Somebody was quoted saying this in the not too distant past: "Mengisi kemerdekaan adalah lebih sukar dari mendapatkan kemerdekaan", lebih kurang lah bunyinya begitu.

52 tahun untuk satu negara bolehlah dikira sebagai masih di tahap kanak-kanak, masih lagi belajar jatuh bangun. Semoga kita semua belajar dari jatuh bangun ini untuk terus bangun dan terus berlari ke depan!

BN ke, PR ke, bebas ke, Hindraf ke, Pekida ke, kita semua ada dalam kapal yang sama...Kalau kapal itu bocor dikeranakan perbuatan kita sendiri, tenggelam lah kita semua.

Selamat Menyambut Ulang Tahun Kemerdekaan yg ke 52 Malaysia! Proud to be one! (whatever that means).

Yesterday, I wrote a letter in the middle of a cold night in Banjar, and sent it to the editor of TheMalaysianInsider...I woke up with my letter already being published, surprise, surprise...thanks TMI!

This is what I wrote:

I would like to start this letter with a handful of comments posted on one of the daily news portals in Indonesia (I personally do not think they need any translations):

These are only a few deprecating, not to mention extremely provocative comments written about our country on the news portals. By the time I finished writing this letter, thousands more could have been posted. Mind you this is only from one Indonesian news portal.

To be honest, I do not have any intentions to incite hatred between the two neighbouring nations by quoting those comments. What I am intending to do is quite the opposite.

I have been studying in Indonesia for the past six years (I am due to finish in November, barring any untoward incidents, of course), and I can tell you, right now is definitely the lowest point of our post-Konfrontasi bilateral relationships with our so-called serumpun neighbour.

I do not know for certain whether it could get any lower than this, but judging from the current developments, and the way the issues are handled by both of our governments, I think it could.

To be fair to the Indonesians, I will state here the prevalent views about Malaysia in Indonesia, shared by many of the Indonesians (but not all of them), whenever a problem crops up between their country and ours.

First of all, they do view us as a bunch of arrogant people who, over the years, keep “stealing” many of the things that they regard as solely theirs, be it in the form of two isolated tiny islands (Sipadan and Ligitan), cultural heritage (wayang kulit, keris, batik, gamelan, angklung, Reog Ponorogo, Balinese Pendet dance), folk songs (Rasa Sayange, Terang Bulan), some ambiguous oil-rich sea territory (the Ambalat oil block), illegal logging in Kalimantan, (allegedly sponsored by Malaysian ‘taukeys’), and some other isolated ‘stealing’ episodes which I cannot recall.

So prevalent is this view of us as a “nation of thieves” that they now casually refer to our country as ‘Malingsia’ (Maling means thief).

Secondly, stories about Indonesian workers who get abused/cheated/tortured while working in Malaysia make headlines in Indonesia. As a result, it is not surprising if they tend to have this skewed notion of us as one cruel nation whose citizens do not have anything else to do but leisurely torture their people who come to Malaysia, over and over again.

Another reason for them to label us “arrogant” would be our usage of the ‘I’ word, which we frequently, innocently, with no malice whatsoever intended, use whenever we refer to the nation and the people of Indonesia.

To them, the ‘I’ word is insulting, offensive, not to mention condescending as well. I bet not many of you know about the negative connotation of the ‘I’ word among the Indonesians.

Even I was not aware of this fact, not until I set my foot in Indonesia some six years ago.

The Manohara controversy did rattle some of the raw nerves in Indonesia. And oh, Noordin Mat Top, too, did his bit to help make matters between the two countries go from bad to worse.

The latest incident would be some Internet user, purportedly a Malaysian, who launched a smear campaign on the Internet by rubbishing the lyrics of the Indonesian National song. A lot of anger is in the air now, as manifested in the writing of the comments above.

Personally, I do not know who to blame for this mess. It would be convenient for me to put the blame solely on the Indonesian media for always putting our country in a bad light whenever a problem arises, but I don’t think that is the right thing to do. It would be like making a scapegoat out of the media for the depth of the trouble we are in now.

(Although I am of the opinion the media are responsible and partially to blame for sometimes reporting totally biased and provocative reports about our country. As such, a lot of people get unnecessarily worked up after reading/watching the news. News like a group of Indonesians in Malaysia indulging themselves into some serious criminal activities would almost certainly be blacked out. It pretty much explains the holier-than-thou attitude among some of them.)

I do not know what went wrong. It has reached to the point where name calling and verbal diarrhoea from both sides have become the order of the day.

Hatred among the netizens of these two countries has translated into a lot of wars of words on the Internet. Website hacking and counter-hacking incidents are on the rise.

Many of the Malaysian students here suddenly found their Indonesian friends venting their anger by saying something nasty on Facebook/Friendster/Twitter about how they would love to “ganyang” our country, or something to that effect. Overnight, friends have turned into foes.

It is a sad thing indeed. I pity these people. Most of them are ill informed about the problems we are facing now, probably getting the so-called “news” from many of the gossip programmes in Indonesia.

The solution to this problem? Again, I do not know. Perhaps both sides should sit down together and learn more about the historical ties between our two countries.

Like, for example, the fact that before the Anglo-Dutch treaty was signed, there was no such a thing as Malaysia and Indonesia (thus explaining the close cultural ties between the countries in this region).

Enough already with the claims and counter-claims.

Perhaps both of us should take some time off and travel to each other’s countries. That way, we will probably realise, “Hey, not all of them are as bad as I thought”.

Perhaps both of our Governments (and the media) should stop stoking any more hatred and confusion into the hearts of the people, and be more responsible in making statements/reports that could potentially hurt our neighbours.

Perhaps some advertisement agency should first do their homework before launching a commercial that includes the Pendet dance with the Petronas Twin Towers as the background. Come on, even the Aussies know that dance belongs to the Balinese.

Perhaps someone up there with the authority to reverse this whole sad episode between our two nations is listening.

And yes, please stop calling them using the ‘I’ word, as much as we expect them to stop calling our country ‘Malingsia’. Name-calling is something that kindergarten kids do.

Ketika hak milik kita diambil oleh seseorang tentu sebagai pemilik kita wajib marah. Agama mengajarkan demikian. Sudah begitu banyak kesenian dan kebudayaan Indonesia yang diambil secara paksa dengan alasan bahwa budaya tersebut hidup juga di Malaysia tanpa melihat dimana asal-muasal kebudayaan itu berasal.

Malaysia memang arogan. Bagaimana seorang yang baru kenal internet telah memposting Lagu Indonesia Raya dengan gubahan yang menyayat hati. Hai, Bung!!! Bangsa Indonesia merdeka dengan tumpahan darah dan air mata. Dengan jiwa dan raga. Kami bisa marah membabi buta jika hal itu dihina.

Ini berbeda dengan Malaysia. Malaysia memperoleh kemerdekaan karena pemberian dari penjajah Inggris. Ya pemberian dari penjajah Inggris. Jadi wajar kalo tidak tahu arti dari perjuangan.

Bahkan lagu kebangsaan Malaysia - Negaraku adalah lagu milik Indonesia yang berjudul Terang Bulan. Malaysia hanya merubah syairnya saja. Sungguh biadab dari awalnya.

Hai, Bung... layaknya Malaysia jadi provinsi baru saja buat Indonesia. Agar apa yang dimiliki Indonesia bisa anda klaim milik anda juga. OK!!! Solusi yang mudah.. Toh kemerdekaan Malaysia hasil dari pemberian tanpa perjuangan. YUK, Gabung dengan Bangsa Indonesia...

Why Zambry, Why?

I've been wondering all this while, what's with the BN's insistence of not having a state election (at all cost, I might add) to solve this deadlock once and for all?

Is it because the PR loose coalition will definitely waltz their way as victors if an election takes place?

Not necessarily true, since in politics anything could happen.

Siapa tahu BN boleh 'menarik arnab' dari topinya dan membuat suatu keajaiban.

If that's not the case, then what's stopping the BN? To save the rakyat's money from being wasted?

No, no, no...I've heard this too many times now, and I don't think this lame excuse holds any validity right now. By not having an election, the impasse remains, and the rakyat will ultimately suffer.

"No sane investors, local and foreign, would want to stake their luck and money until a stronger government emerges" says Dato' Kadir Jasin in his blog.

It basically means no money coming in to fill the state government's coffer. This alone can easily defeat the BN's arguement of a 'costly' state election, or any other elections for that matter. No legitimate government means nothing can be approved, not even a longkang can be built!

Other state institutions (Penghulu, local councillors etc.) are already in a shamble as a result of this stalemate. Heck, even the MBs and the EXCO can't get their gaji should this whole episode remain the way it is today

If that's still not the case, then why BN, why? Why is it that you are so adamant about not having a state election?

The legal arguments against Zambry are piling up from every nook and cranny of this country, yet he still has the audacity to claim the state government is his. Why Zambry, why?

Tujuan utama kita ada pemerintahan di dunia ini adalah untuk menjadi hamba rakyat dalam segala hal, bukan naik turun mahkamah untuk meng'claim' sesuatu yang bukan miliknya. Kalau banyak yang dah bersuara supaya suara-suara rakyat didengar semula dalam bentuk undian, apa lagi yang zambry tunggu?

Takkanlah sebab dah sedap sangat duduk kat kerusi MB tu sampai dah tak nak turun-turun lagi?

It's going to take 2 generations to clean up the trail of dungs you know!

I wonder what will happen to the frogs if somehow the dewan is 'blessed' to be dissolved...

The Bota dude? Changkat Jering's Jaliu? That postman? Hee-hee-hee the pepper spraying gal?

Well, I would like to wish them all the best of luck in the world...For they will surely be rewarded by their master by getting replaced with the non-froggie candidates from the BN!

Najib Chose BN Over Country in Cabinet Choices

KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 - If Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak needed another reason why the Barisan Nasional (BN) model has to be consigned to the scrapheap of history, he just needs to look at his new Cabinet line-up.

It could have been a team packed with top professionals or corporate captains, just like what his advisors were urging him to do.

It could have been less bloated from the 28 ministers and 40 deputy ministers who were appointed, just like what he intended.

Instead pragmatism triumphed over what was good for Malaysia, and Najib like Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Dr Mahathir Mohamad picked his Cabinet according to BN component party considerations and geographical requirements.

In a nutshell, he needed to keep Umno, MCA, MIC, Gerakan, PPP, PBS,UPKO and the rest happy.

Then he had to make sure that the states which kept BN in power in Election 2008 were rewarded (read: Sabah, Sarawak and Johor).

At the same time, he had to give all states a place on the most powerful decision-making body in the country and recognize the will of Umno members who picked their leaders.

Then Najib had to field calls from Malay Rulers who had their own favourites whom they wanted retained as ministers.

After taking into account all these considerations, there was no room to co-opt talent from the private, or bring in individuals with fewer questions marks next to their names and with higher EQ and IQ scores.

After taking into account all these considerations, Najib offered Malaysians a Cabinet little different from the one offered by Abdullah in 2004 and 2008.

Then like now, the PM of Malaysia choices were dictated by one main factor - satisfying the needs and quota of Umno and other BN component parties.

There was a time when this formula may have worked.

That was the era when the country's best, brightest and straightest actually joined BN parties
or at least was enticed to wear the colours of the ruling coalition.

That was the era when component party leaders did not feel threatened by their own shadows and were willing to allow capable young people to blossom and move up the political ladder.

That is maybe going back 20 or 25 years.

Today, the talent pool in BN is shallow, the result of years of branch and division leaders blocking better qualified young Malaysians from joining the ranks and BN leaders turning
political succession into an art form of promoting yes-men over more capable but less compliant souls.

The Najib Cabinet is the best that BN can offer.

Sad but true. Don't think Ahmad Shabery Cheek is up to scratch? Who else does Umno Terengganu have to offer?

Think Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop should have been dropped? But he is the only Penang MP (besides Abdullah) still in the House.

Why is Anifah Aman the foreign minister? Because Sabah had to be rewarded and he is one of a clutch of MPs who is comfortable conversing in English.

But what about Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon? Did Najib have to pick someone who was booted out of Penang for underperforming to monitor the performance of ministers?

Short answer: Yes.

The appointment of Koh was a lifeline to Gerakan which has been toying with irrelevance since Election 2008.

Could Najib have put the needs of Malaysia first before that of his party and the BN?

Definitely.

But was he willing to ride roughshod over Umno warlords and BN party leaders?

No. No one who occupies the top office in the country will dare alienate these powerful power brokers and risk the possibility of them leaving the coalition.

So as long as the current BN structure and the coalition's reward system are left intact, Malaysians should lower their expectations about the country's Cabinet.

Under this system, even the mediocre and average can be rewarded.

SUNGAI PETANI, 6 Apr 2009: Four Pakatan Rakyat (PR) state assemblypersons will defect if the Barisan Nasional (BN) wins the Bukit Selambau by-election tomorrow, claimed newly-elected Umno supreme council member Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.

Speaking at the BN Youth operations center here tonight, he said, "Just wait and see what will happen within a week after our victory tomorrow."

Cakap-cakap orang sombong dan disillusioned

"We will liberate Kedah the way we liberated Perak," he said to thunderous cheers.

Dah 'liberate' ke belum annee?

However, no confirmation was given of who the four potential defectors were.

Apart from Azeez, newly elected Umno Youth exco member Datuk Ahmad Zaki Zahid also told the crowd, "We will begin taking Kedah back not at the next general election, but tomorrow."

Their announcements come within hours of news that five Kedah Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) division chiefs were quitting the party due to loss of confidence in the party.

Azeez, the ex-Putera Umno chief, also said that although he was now in the supreme council, he would defend Mat Rempits if they were in trouble.

Azeez told the 200-strong crowd of mostly Malay Malaysian men: "Go ride your motorbikes around town until midnight tonight, and until 5pm tomorrow, not to scare people but to raise their spirits."

There are 35,140 registered voters in the Bukit Selambau constituency. Polling begins tomorrow at 8am and closes at 5pm in a race that involves a record 15 candidates, 13 of whom are independents.

Kabinet Najib, Baru atau Lama?

Kabinet PakLah selepas March2008...Kalau kita letakkan tanda 'X' di muka-muka yang terkeluar dari kabinet Pak Jib kali ini, ternyata tak lah banyak sangat yang berubah!
Perhatikan juga ada senator/timbalan menteri yang telah hilang pekerjaan sekarang, terima kasihlah kepada kejayaan Wahid Endut menewaskan dia di KT kelmarin!
(Hint: 2 dari kanan di barisan timbalan menteri =p )

Mula-mula mereka kata dari angin-angin yang bertiup, saiz kabinet pak-pak menteri kali ini akan dikecilkan...Yelah, katanya yang diwarisi dari zaman PakLah itu terlalu besar, tidak effisien...Betullah tu, dulu masa ada orang kata kabinet waktu itu terlalu besar, mereka buat tak tahu sahaja, janji semua ikan-ikan jerung dapat merasa pangkat dan glamour dan harta yang melimpah ruah...Sekarang baru nak mengaku yang memang kabinet dulu terlebih dari apa yang diperlukan oleh Malaysia sebenarnya...

Ingatkan betullah nak dicantas bilangan pak-pak menteri dari 32 orang menjadi nombor yang jauh lebih kecil...Rupa-rupanya perkataan cantas tidak sesuai digunakan di sini, tidak lah jauh mana pun 32 orang ke 28 orang, dengan timbalan pak menteri pula yang meningkat dari 38 orang ke 40 orang...

Kadang-kadang saya terfikir juga, kenapa sampai ramai sekali timbalan menteri yang diperlukan untuk jadi 'spare part' pak-pak menteri? Perlukah negara membelanjakan jutaan ringgit hanya untuk menggaji timbalan-timbalan ini? (belum lagi termasuk elaun-elaun mereka yang tiada hujungnya, dan juga mungkin pendapatan-pendapatan 'tidak rasmi' yang bakal didapat dari jawatan timbalan menteri!)...

Mungkin susah untuk Pak Jib memuaskan hati semua orang...Jadilah dapat timbalan menteri pun kan!

Orang-orang kata apa bezanya pak-pak menteri kali ini, hampir semuanya muka-muka lama sahaja...Tak kurang juga yang kecewa kerana disangkakan akan berlaku perubahan drastik dalam kabinet negara kita, ternyata sekarang harapan tidak menjadi kenyataan...

Saya secara peribadi memang tidak menjangkakan langsung akan ada perubahan drastik dalam kabinet UMNO/BN ini, yalah, macam mana nak dapat barang-barang baru kalau stok lama dalam almari usang cuma tinggal yang itu-itu sahaja! Betul tak?

Jadi memang wajar sahaja barang-barang lama dibawa masuk kembali, mungkin di recycle, mungkin langsung dari tong sampah....Sudah tidak ada pilihan lagi sebenarnya, kalau hendakkan muka-muka baru, takkanlah mereka mahu mengambil orang-orang dari pembangkang? Khairy Jamaluddin saja tidak diterima!

Bercakap tentang Mr KJ, tidak lepas pula dari terfikirkan saingannya untuk jawatan Ketua Pemuda dahulu, Mr MM...Ternyata Mukhriz dapat juga melewati ketua pemudanya sendiri untuk menjabat jawatan timbalan menteri, walaupun baru sahaja kalah dalam pemilihan jawatan dengan KJ....Kalau sebelum ini Chedet betul-betul menafikan yang anak nya tidak akan dilantik menjadi menteri (ataupun dia tidak akan mempengaruhi calon-calon menteri), tiba-tiba naiklah si Mukhriz sebagai TIMBALAN menteri....Pandai sungguh Chedet kita ini, secara teknikal nya dia tidak lah berbohong, tetapi masih juga dapat meletakkan anaknya di landasan yang betul untuk mewarisi takhta nya kelak...

Jadi persoalan utama kali ini, kabinet Pak Jib ini kabinet baru, atau kabinet lama? Orang kata kabinet kali ini banyak pengaruh Chedet sebagai pemain di belakang tabir...Tak tahulah pulak saya, tidak dapat dipastikan betul atau tidak...Yang pasti, memang ada unsur-unsur Chedet di dalam kabinet baru ini....Ahhh, mungkin kebetulan sahaja! Ini kan Malaysia, semuanya yang berlaku kebetulan belaka, 'ter-ter' sahaja!

Maka naiklah mereka-mereka yang sudah kalah dalam pilihanraya menjadi pak dan ibu menteri....Dalam erti kata lain, rakyat sudah menolak mereka dengan jelas dalam pilihanraya umum yang lalu, tetapi tetap sahaja mereka dapat bertakhta berjawatankan menteri Malaysia....

Tidaklah pula saya tahu samaada ini benar-benar 'saf' yang dimahukan oleh Pak Jib dahulu...Mungkin betul, mungkin juga bukan kehendak Pak Jib 100%....Biasalah, ada watak lama yang baru sahaja masuk semula ke dalam UMNO, di mana semua orang dalam UMNO tak berani nak sanggah!

Tidaklah juga saya pasti samaada saf Pak Jib kali ini benar-benar saf yang dimahukan oleh orang-orang UMNO yang mahukan perubahan, seperti pak Kadir Jasin...Mungkin beliau setuju, mungkin sahaja beliau kecewa sekali lagi selepas berkali-kali kecewa sebelum ini...Tunggu sahaja entry yang seterusnya dari dia di dalam blognya...

Nampaknya media-media kawalan UMNO/BN dalam hari-hari terakhir menuju ke 3 PRK semakin galak dalam menyerang pihak pembangkang...Saya mulai perasan 2-3 hari ini pembangkang seperti tidak wujud sama sekali di media milik UMNO/BN, kalau keluar juga hanya yang buruk-buruk sahaja....Ini berlebihan, dan orang tidak suka yang berlebihan...

Baru-baru ini keluar pula klip ucapan Brother Sheikh menghantam PAS dan DAP kira-kira 14 tahun yang lalu...

Yaaa, 14 tahun yang lalu, begitulah terdesak nya UMNO/BN untuk mendapatkan sokongan....

Kalau dah mula ungkit-mengungkit, rasanya BN yang akan rugi banyak...

Kita semua tahu perangai Brother Sheikh sewaktu dalam UMNO dulu, pembangkang terutamanya PAS teruk 'dibelasah' Pak Sheikh dalam ucapan-ucapannya...

Selamat tinggal Pak Lah...Perubahan yang baik di masa anda akan saya ingat...Yang tidak baik tidak payah lah diingat-ingat...

Kenapa Tun Che Det Marah Sangat kat Tun Pak Lah?

Entahlah, saya juga tidak tahu jawapan yang sebenar...

Kalau dari cerita-cerita di surat khabar dan media-media yang lainnya, dulu Chedet tidaklah berpuas hati dengan Pak Lah kerana banyak peninggalan-peninggalan Chedet di 'reverse' oleh Pak Lah...Sebut saja jambatan bengkok, landasan berkembar (sekarang sudah berjalan lagi), dan mega-mega yang lainnya...Setahun dua ini pula, Chedet kata Pak Lah adalah punca orang ramai berbondong-bondong menjauhkan diri dari UMNO/BN, dengan tuduhan budak tingkat 4 menguasai Pak Lah, KJ sang menantu, pimpinan yang tidak 'decisive' dan lemah, kronisme terutamanya dengan Patrick 'Badawi' Lim, tidak memberikan ruang dia bercakap di media (sebab itu dia memblog pula), dan seribu satu lagi yang serba tidak kena....

Selain dari sebab-sebab di atas, saya berpendapat Chedet marah ke Pak Lah atas sebab yang lain....Sebab yang tidak dapat kita lihat dengan mata kasar...

Sepertinya Chedet tidak akan berhenti walaupun Pak Lah sudah turun...
KJ sang menantu akan menjadi sasaran seterusnya...

Dalam tempoh lebih kurang 5 tahun Pak Lah memerintah Malaysia, mungkin tak banyak perubahan dari segi fizikal yang terjadi di negara kita ini....Tidak ada menara-menara pemecah rekod dunia, yang tertinggi, yang terpanjang, yang terberat dan ter-ter lainnya sepanjang Pak Lah meneraju Malaysia...Tidak ada pula pencapaian yang membanggakan dari segi ekonomi mahupun sahsiah, seperti mana booming sewaktu Chedet menjadi PM dahulu...

Kalaulah ada kad laporan untuk Pak Lah, mungkin Pak Lah dapat markah 'average' sahaja untuk kebanyakan bidang pemerintahan, dengan beberapa yang 'merah' juga...

Tapi kita jangan lupa, ada juga beberapa yang Pak Lah mendapatkan markah 'A-', contohnya dalam kebebasan bersuara...(A minus kerana tidaklah bebas seperti yang diharapkan, tapi ok lah tu...)

Chedet boleh kata atau 'spin' apa pun yang masa dia memerintah, ruang pemikiran dan perbezaan pendapat di Malaysia terbuka seluas-luasnya tanpa ada sebarang sekatan...Hakikatnya semua orang tahu, tidak lah sebegitu...

Lihat semasa pemerintahan Pak Lah, banyak debat-debat dan forum yang diadakan di television dan media-media yang lain, membincangkan banyak hal, terutamanya politik...Walaupun kebanyakannya tidak lah adil mana pun, tetapi masih lebih baik dari dahulu di mana suara-suara yang berseberangan dengan suara pemerintah tidak langsung kedengaran di media massa, kalaupun kedengaran selalu di ambil dalam keadaan 'out of context', dimanipulasi sedemikian rupa sampai lari dari maksud sebenarnya...

Kalau zaman Chedet dahulu, mereka-mereka terutamanya dari pembangkang kalau diibaratkan, tidak langsung dibenarkan masuk ke dalam gelanggang silat untuk menunjukkan kehebatan mereka...Maka waktu itu bersilat lah orang-orang pemerintah sorang-sorang, dialah yang hebat, dialah juara...

Zaman Pak Lah pula, adalah juga orang-orang pembangkang dibenarkan masuk ke dalam gelanggang silat untuk bersilat bersama, walaupun kadang-kadang masuk gelanggang dengan tangan diikat, mata ditutup untuk dibelasah...Yang penting masuk jugak lah kan, sebab kadang-kadang ikat tangan mata pun dapat juga melepaskan penendang sebiji dua...Jadi lah tu (Brother Sheikh vs Shabery Chik being an example)...

Bagi seorang pemimpin di mana pun mereka berada, yang paling penting setelah mereka turun meletakkan jawatan adalah 'legacy' ataupun peninggalan mereka, bagaimana mereka akan diingat dan dicatat dalam sejarah untuk generasi yang mendatang...

Chedet juga tidak terkecuali, setelah bertakhta selama 22 tahun memerintah Malaysia, pastinya dia ingin diingat sebagai seorang yang telah berjasa dalam membangunkan Malaysia dari sebuah negara yang bergantung kepada hasil pertanian dan perlombongan kepada satu 'power house' di rantau ASEAN ini...

Pembangunan yang rancak ini, malangnya tidak dapat lepas dari merosotnya nilai-nilai moral di kalangan orang-orang politik di negara kita, terutamanya yang di pemerintahan...Rasuah besar-besaran dengan taktik moden (commission gila-gilaan, direct negotiation, privatization@skim cepat kaya UMNO etc) mula tumbuh bibit-bibitnya sewaktu Chedet memerintah....Mujur Chedet seorang pemimpin yang 'kuat', maka bibit-bibit kejahatan ini tidak lah bercambah sewaktu pemerintahannya...Chedet selalu kata kat mana-mana interview, yang dia adalah seorang doktor, kalau dia dapati ada kaki atau tangan yang kena 'gangrene' ataupun menjadi 'cancer', dia akan cantas secepat mungkin...

Betul, tapi yang dapat dicantas Chedet hanyalah gangrene atau cancer yang sudah jelas kelihatan....Yang masih diperingkat sel-sel akan tumbuh membesar dengan suburnya sewaktu Pak Lah naik menjadi PM...

Dan itulah yang disayangkan dari Pak Lah...Bagi saya, PM Malaysia selepas Chedet haruslah orang yang lebih 'kuat' dari dia, kuat dalam erti kata tegas dan berani untuk men 'chemotherapy' kan semua sel-sel cancer yang diwarisi dari zaman Chedet...

Sayang seribu kali sayang, mungkin Allah dah jadikan Pak Lah bukanlah orang yang sedemikian rupa...Maka jadilah apa yang telah terjadi sekarang, pemerintah dengan cancer di mana-mana, yang telah ber 'metastasize' ke seluruh batang tubuh negara kita...

Ramai yang menyedari hal ini, dan kesudahannya orang selain dari menuding jari menyalahkan Pak Lah, dengan automatic jari itu akan ditudingkan ke arah Chedet juga sebagai penaung kepada sel-sel cancer ini dahulu....

Jadi tercalarlah legacy Chedet yang sebetulnya 'baik-baik' belaka....

Mungkin itu penyebab kenapa Chedet marah sungguh dengan Pak Lah...Adalah juga sebab-sebab yang lain rasanya, yang tidaklah saya ketahui (line Mukhriz untuk jadi PM juga sekarang sudah kacau, thanks to sang menantu)...

Wallahulam...

Apa-apa pun, dengan turunnya Pak Lah dari kerusi PM, Chedet akan menunaikan janjinya untuk kembali ke UMNO seterusnya ke persada politik Malaysia sekali lagi, walaupun mungkin tidak secara terang-terangan ataupun aktif seperti dahulu....Sama-samalah kita tunggu sama ada satu-satunya peninggalan Pak Lah yang baik untuk Malaysia ini akan dihancurkan juga suatu hari nanti, atau pun tidak...

Selamat tinggal Pak Lah, terima kasih daun keladi kerana menjaga Malaysia dengan agak baik selama 5 tahun....

It seems that Brother Sheikh has not learned his lesson yet...

It is rumoured that the whole Kedah division of PPP is going to switch side soon...Don't know about the exact numbers, it could be only a handful of them, could be all of Kedah PPP members, who knows...

This hopping game has cost the PR coalition a state, and still PKR is pushing for more turncoats to switch to their side!

Enticing people from other parties with money and position used to belong exclusively to UMNO/BN, but sadly not anymore...

If this continues, the PR coalition can't really blame anyone in the event of losing another state that the are currently administrating...They absolutely don't have the moral high ground to do so...

I'm going to be brutally honest here, PKR as it is today, is a liability to the coalition, it's bringing down, literally and figuratively, the other 2 partners in the coalition...

All along, PKR has talked a lot about change...Well, I want to see they really walk their talk!

Talk about PR losing its credibility huh...

Kata Pak Menteri Kunci-Tadika-Kemas, "Ini Budaya Cina"!

Saya tersenyum kambing (dan ketawa terdekah-dekah dalam hati) bila mendengar kenyataan pak menteri yang terkenal dengan sandiwara kunci tadika kemas ini...

"Ini adalah budaya masyarakat cina," kata pak menteri...

Sambil makan-makan, para tetamu dihidangkan lagi dengan joget-joget moden di atas pentas...

"Let's get it started" lagu-lagu Black Eyed Peas kedengaran jelas di majlis itu...

Kebetulan pak menteri duduk paling depan dan membelakangi para penari...Mungkin dia sendiri sebagai menteri hal ehwal agama tidak sanggup melihat 'budaya cina' ini...

Dari apa yang saya boleh katakan dari interview pak menteri kunci dengan media, saya hanya dapat mendengarkan jawapan dari seorang ultra melayu jenis 'closet' yang kelihatan terdesak untuk menunjukkan dirinya sebagai seorang yang menerima kaum lain dengan hati terbuka...

"Saya pergi ke tokong, saya pergi ke pengkebumian cina," katanya lagi, lebih kurang...

Kasihan saya dengan orang-orang cina menurut pak menteri, tatkala hasil kebudayaan dari tamadun mereka yang berusia 5000 tahun hanya tinggal tarian moden ala barat (jangan lupa lagu Black Eyed Peas juga!)

Kalau budaya cina pak menteri kata macamtu, budaya melayu saya tak tahu pula bagaimana...

Mungkin 'tarian perut' ala arab akan dikatakan budaya melayu juga, Wallahualam...

Suddenly her name becomes a taboo in Bukit Gantang election...

I totally agree with Leslie Lau's take on this issue...By banning her name from even being mentioned during the 7 day campaign, the police ain't going to be of any help to remedy the already topsy-turvy situation...

It ain't going to help the opposition, the police themselves, and it is sure as hell not going to do Najib any good either...

I mean, look around you, the case has become so sensational that even a 5 year old knows the supposed link between the obliterated model and those certain individuals allegedly involved in her brutal demise...Any attempt to silence the people from talking about it is simply futile...

Apart from strengthening the opposition's claim that the murder of this Mongolian beauty (Am I allowed to state the name of the country? Hmm) happened with the consent of one of our country's top guns, the ban serves as another reminder that a 'sumpah' in the masjid alone is not enough to make the accusation go away...

In fact, this ban will definitely be a subject of ridicule that is surely going to be used by the opposition during their campaign...

Besides, there are other ways for the opposition to bend the ban, you know...They can always refer her not by her name, but by something like "si anu dari M******", "you know lah who I'm talking about", "yang nama dia kena ban tuuuu", etc2...

So famous she has become, even "Si A" alone would suffice =)

A picture is worth a thousand words...Yet another picture that won't find its way to the MSM...

Well, as far as I am concerned, some of those who thronged the padang and the hillside on the Pakatan side could be outsiders...But I do believe the majority of them are local people, as evidenced by the number of people who brought their children together in a show of support of their illegally ousted MB of Perak, Nizar Jamaluddin...

Then again, it's not everyday you could see people from all different backgrounds gathered in one place, united against their common enemy, the powers that be of today, UMNO/BN and all their antics...

But this massive turnout would absolutely mean nothing if by some miracle, UMNO/BN manages to once again recapture Bukit Gantang...I hope those people will not get too cocky with this huge numerical support, because at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is winning this seat with a thumping majority....

Already the same script from the previous 2 by-elections are being repeated here by the BN's leaders..."Oh, ini bukan referendum lah, this by-election is definitely not a gauge of people's support lah, only a by-election what..."

Since they are privy to something that we are not (you know lah, intel reports and what not), it's always good to hear them making such statements =)

It's just their way of saying, "Bl***y hell, depa tak bayar supporter pun ramai orang datang sokong, ada chance ka kita ni?"

p/s: Polis kata sekarang cuma boleh kempen sampai pukul 11 malam saja (sebelum ini sampai pukul 12)...hanya mereka2 yang ceramah nya tak laku sahaja yang akan di untungkan dengan peraturan pelik seperti ini!

In the presence of mostly skewed people with skewed and narrowed notion of governance, the last couple of days have been nothing but a show of sheer arrogance and blatant foolishness...Instead of correcting themselves, contemplating of what has gone wrong with the party (some of them did, fortunately, only to be booed by the delegates), they chose to go 'right', becoming even more defensive than ever before, which I have to tell you, is not the right thing to do considering how unpopular they have become these days...

Some people say this keris party is already beyond redemption, the rampant corruption alone is eating the very soul of the party at a speed never imagined before...While I partially agreed with them, I did think, however, before the start of the General Assembly, that maybe this time around these people could finally talk some sense after being defeated and rejected again and again and again by the people all over Malaysia...You know, the light at the end of the tunnel is always there, however dimly...

I got it all wrong, of course...

Please read slowly what they got to say in the assembly, these oh so concerned people spewing their venom of self righteousness and at the same time "seluk sana, cilok sini"...

Selangor delegate Ismail Tijo meanwhile alleged that the Malays have never been treated this bad especially by the federal opposition led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. "They insulted the Malays as is if we have no dignity left. And then there is Anwar Ibrahim who wants to make the status of the Malays the same as others," said Ismail referring to Pakatan Rakyat campaign platform, Ketuanan Rakyat (People's Supremacy)

Puteri Umno representative Mazlina Lazim told delegates that the government must ensure Umno loyalists are given positions in government-linked-companies (GLCs). "If Umno doesn't help Umno members who else would do that," she said.

Umno Youth delegate Nor Said Nayan, Langkawi, Kedah said that Pakatan Rakyat is an illegal coalition as it is not registered. We must from now on not use the term ‘Pakatan’ and the media should stop giving them free publicity.

Musa Sheikh Fadzir, Bukit Mertajam, Penang : When others question our religion, our special rights, who defends the Malays? Us, Umno. But when we try to defend ourselves, our leader gets a three-year suspension (referring to Ahmad Ismail).

People always say don’t play money politics. But this is a political organisation. If we don’t have money, how are we supposed to come to this AGM in Kuala Lumpur?
“Those days, an application for a taxi permit would require the endorsement of an Umno branch or division chief. If the branches and divisions are strong, then Umno will be strong again.”

Hasnoor Sidang Hussin, Bukit Katil, Malacca said high-ranking appointments in government-linked companies and higher learning institutions should be reserved for Umno members.
“So, just like the president said about returning Umno to its roots, let’s bring Umno back to its glory days where we controlled everything.” He cited the example of UiTM vice chancellor Datuk Seri Ibrahim Abu Shah who was a party loyalist.

Musa’s call was also echoed by a Malacca delegate, Datuk Hasnoor Husin, who also urged the government to ensure that only Umno loyalists be appointed to senior positions in public universities.“Please make sure the faculty members are all Umno men, and the same goes for other civil servants,” said Hasnoor.

“The soft approach is not going to cut it. We should try and take the hard approach next on the opposition,” said Mohd Afendi Yusof, a Youth delegate from Kelantan.
“He can promise you everything, he can even promise you the front and the back,” said Zaidi in an apparent insinuation to Anwar’s sodomy case.
“The biggest mistake we ever did was to free Anwar (from jail),” he added and was accompanied by stomps from the floor.

And then came the craziest and astoundingly retarded idea of all,

Overseas Umno clubs representative Wan Md Hazlin Hassan called on the government to ban the Egypt-based Malay students organisation PMRAM as it was dominated by the opposition. Wan Hazlin urged that PMRAM must be banned and the scholarships of students who join PMRAM must be revoked.

This is rich.

You see, the problem of having a single party ruling our country for more than 50 consecutive years, is that they can't really differentiate between what belongs to UMNO the party and those that belong to the Government...Everything owned by the government is considered as rightfully theirs, be it Tadika Kemas, GLCs, schools, hospitals, public facilities, and yes, government loans and scholarships...

Hmm, now people are punished because of their political beliefs...Sounds like Zimbabwe to me alright...After all, everybody's money is theirs!

Kinda reminds me of a scene in "Kingdom of Heaven", where right after declaring a war with Salahuddin, the newly crowned King of Jerusalem Guy de Lusignan turned around and said,
"I am Jerusalem!"

I prefer not to go further on this one...Everyone in their right mind and with some resemblance of conscience knows who's talking nonsense here...

Ternyata masih ada segelintir penyokong UMNO yang begitu rendah sekali akhlaknya!

"Kill Nizar"? Apa masalah anda sebenarnya saudara?

Kita boleh tak sama pendapat dalam politik, itu hak masing-masing sebagai seorang rakyat...

Tapi kalau macam ini lah saudara memperjuangkan 'cara politik' saudara, sampai bila-bila pun saya tidak akan mendekatkan diri dengan parti bernama UMNO ini!

I really laughed my heart out when I read the first and the second paragraph of this wonderful and well written piece by Azmi Sharom...

Jokes aside, I feel extremely disappointed for the near-incorrigible state our country is in now...

Economically speaking, Malaysia, despite its vast natural resources, economic and population diversity, relatively strong fundamentals compared to most of its peers in the region, is undoubtedly in a free fall, with nobody seems to be at helm to navigate this country through the unchartered and dangerous territory we are in right now...

The economy is in a complete shambles, with millions of Malaysians are at stake..We desperately need someone to save the country from turning into a 'failed state', but instead, we got the following:

1- The man who is in line to become prime minister is linked to a sensational murder case of a Mongolian model whose body was obliterated to pieces with explosives,

2- An opposition leader awaits trial on sodomy charges,

3- A government who is very much in denial about almost everything, and still uses draconian laws like the Internal Security Act at whim and 'berwayang kulit' with the police and judiciary to oppress any voices of dissent,

4- Sasterawan Negara, Pak Samad Said, who's already in his 70's, got roughed up and tear gassed by the FRU only for being outspoken in defending his bahasa ibunda,

Dah tak ada belas kasihan kah anda-anda semua?
Pak Samad has contributed A LOT to this country, and yet this is what he gets...

5- And the latest who recently jumped into the bandwagon was the ban of a Member of Parliament from Puchong for one year after he called the prime-minister-in-waiting a murderer....

Oh, please don't forget that one of the largest states in the federation has been paralysed for six weeks....As far as the federal government and the opposition are concerned, there are 2 MB's in the silver state!

And I just read a story somewhere in the blogsphere about an incidence where 2 Malay dudes jumped an old Chinese woman in broad daylight over her purse...

Well, that's Malaysia of today for you folks...

Only The Truth Hurts

It is very strange but whenever someone writes to me about my newspaper column, and if they really don’t like what I say, and they want to insult me; they call me gay.

This is odd to me because the last time I checked I don’t do or say anything to suggest that I am. I can’t stand musicals of any sort; I do not listen to Kylie Minogue; I don’t support Manchester United ; I don’t carry a man bag; I don’t have any sort of fashion sense; and I only go to IKEA because they have a free playground where I can dump the kids for an hour.

The reason why my hetero sexuality can be questioned I suppose is that awful photo of me used for the column. I must admit; it is rather gay.

Anyway, this sort of name calling does not bother me in the slightest because I don’t see being called gay as an insult and besides I am reminded of a friend of mine in school who had the unfortunate nick name of “bender”. When I asked him how come he is not upset by it, he said “only the truth hurts”.

This brings me to Gobind Singh MP and his suspension from parliament. A touch of name calling and the MP from Puchong suddenly finds himself with no MP pay and no access to the august house for a year. It’s all a bit rich I think.

Nazri Aziz, who is oh so concerned about good behaviour in parliament, was once captured on video in the Dewan screaming hysterically at another MP, calling him a racist again and again. On what grounds did he make that strong accusation I wonder? Were they well founded or is it just based on his perception.

And what about obnoxious MPs who get away scot free when making moronic comments about women and their menstrual cycles. You also get seditious MPs who tell our non Muslim brethren that they can leave the country.

Nazri and all these people did not get the slightest smack on the wrist by the speaker. It all stinks of hypocrisy. Just as the actual process of Gobind being suspended smacks of hypocrisy.

One would have thought that the proper procedure was for the case to be brought before a Committee of Privileges. It would then listen to all the parties involved, including Gobind Singh and then make a decision. This decision can then be brought to the Dewan to be endorsed.

Here the case was brought straight to parliament as a motion made by that defender of parliamentary decorum Nazri Aziz, and voted on without the MP concerned being given the opportunity to defend himself. Clearly the basic right to be given a fair hearing was not adhered to.

Ironically, when a similar situation happened in Perak, when the Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly suspended a few Barisan ADUN, the very same people calling for the head of Gobind, were calling for the head of the Perak Speaker. Listen people, you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

The Parliamentary Speaker was also reported as lamenting that our parliament was no longer a “first world parliament”. I wonder when we actually lost this status. Did we ever have it in the first place? It is strange that the responsibility of making our parliament “first world”, whatever that might mean, should fall on the shoulders of a first timer opposition MP and not the plethora of badly behaved MPs in the recent past.

Besides, in using his broad discretionary powers should not the Speaker use it in a way that is not contrary to natural justice? Surely, adherence to basic principles of fairness is one of the things that make a parliament “first world”.

One commentator on Tengku Razaleigh's blog wrote the following:

Neither do I, but then, UMNO is the law, isn’t it?

UMNO can criticise the Rulers and Judges, organize illegal demonstrations, warn the Chinese with the keris, indulge in blatant corruption, use the MACC, Police and public institutions to intimidate the Opposition. Use the AG as an UMNO toy and the courts as the Roman’s Colosseum for the Emperors’ entertainment.

When the PM himself ordered police reports be made against the Perak Speaker and lock up the State Assembly, what Law and Democracy are we talking about.

UMNO is not only beyond redemption but incorrigibly INSANE.

UMNO is the recipe for Doom.

The sentiment among the grassroots is that nearly all the candidates are tainted by some form of “vote-buying”, and Mohd Ali has not committed any worst offence than other candidates.

This has presented the senior Umno leadership with a huge dilemma because it wants to reverse the perception of Umno being a corrupt party.

If it reverses the disciplinary committee’s decision tomorrow, the supreme council may risk the wrath of voters as it prepares to face three crucial by-elections next month.

Members of the disciplinary committee are also said to be threatening resignation if the supreme council reverses their decision.

Supporters of Mohd Ali are also promising reprisals and the supreme council will want to calm the restlessness.

Majlis Disiplin UMNO baru sahaja menjatuhkan hukuman terhadap beberapa ahlinya yang didapati bersalah 'meng wangkan politik', atau bahasa rakyat jelatanya yang rendah nan hina, RASUAH...

Hukuman terhadap beberapa individu tersebut dijatuhkan setelah beberapa hari spekulasi-spekulasi bertiup dengan kencang akan siapa sahaja yang bakal dicantas kepalanya dari bertanding di Pemilihan UMNO akhir bulan ini...

Nah, yang ditunggu-tunggu pun akhirnya ketahuan juga, seperti yang dijangka, Ali Rustam @ Ali Ketam telah disabitkan bersalah, turut bersalah dan digantung adalah Saadun Basirun, setiausaha kepada Encik Ali Rustam...

Dengan tercantasnya Ali Rustam, pertandingan merebut jawatan naib presiden UMNO sekarang menjadi pertandingan dua penjuru, antara Muhyiddin dan Muhammad Muhammad Taib atau nama manjanya Mike Tyson...

Di jawatan yang lain yang juga hangat lagi panas ditandingkan, The Java Man pula dikatakan tidak bersalah atas semua tuduhan yang dilemparkan ke dia, sementara KJ sang menantu pula didapati bersalah, tetapi masih boleh bertanding dengan diberikan 'amaran'...

Dengan itu, perebutan untuk jawatan Ketua Pemuda UMNO masih lagi ditandingi oleh tiga orang yang pastinya akan menghangatkan suasana yang sudah sedia hangat ini...

Banyak persoalan yang timbul akan tindakan UMNO menghukum mereka-mereka ini...

1- Apakah pembersihan terhadap orang-orang Pak Lah sudah bermula? (Norza, Ali, etc.)

2- Kenapa Khairy yang sudah dikatakan bersalah meng wangkan politik masih lagi terlepas dari dijatuhkan hukuman (dan boleh bertanding lagi!) Apakah budaya rasuah sudah terlalu bersatu dengan UMNO sampai terjadinya perkara sebegini?

3- Kenapa sekarang? Kenapa bukan dari dahulu lagi?

4- Apa terjadi dengan sisa-sisa 900 (ya, SEMBILAN RATUS!) kes tuduhan rasuah dalam UMNO? Bersih seperti toilet paper kah mereka itu?

5- Kenapa orang-orang lain yang juga jelas meng wangkan politik tidak dihukum sama? Kenapa 'tebang pilih'? (meminjam istilah dari Bahasa Indonesia) Apa cerita dengan ikan-ikan jerung UMNO yang lain? ...

6- Akan bergejolakkah UMNO selepas ini? Akan semakin banyakkah tikam menikam dari depan dan belakang dalam UMNO?

7- Bagaimanakah 'prospect' UMNO/BN untuk memenangi PRK di dua bukit dan satu batang nanti? Adakah perlakuan 'sabotage' dalaman akan sekali lagi menewaskan calon-calon UMNO/BN?

8- Bagaimana dengan MACC? Apakah mereka akan berdiam diri sahaja selepas ini? Atau mereka masih sibuk mencari lembu-lembu yang hilang dahulu?

9- Apakah semua masalah dalaman dan luaran UMNO akan selesai dengan tercantasnya orang-orang seperti Ali dan Norza?

10- Desas-desus Ali Rustam mahu membubarkan DUN Melaka sekiranya dia dihukum, apakah akan menjadi kenyataan?

Sama-samalah kita tunggu adegan cerekarama yang disutradarakan oleh UMNO seterusnya...

Sementara itu, rakyat jelata yang rendah lagi hina sudah mula berkata-kata, "hah, betullah UMNO ini parti rasuah!"

Sementara itu lagi, mungkin orang-orang di dalam UMNO yang dirugikan dengan keputusan Majlis Disiplin ini sudah merancang sesuatu untuk meributkan lagi keadaan di dalam UMNO...

Umum rasuah salah, tak umum pun salah...

Bak gurindam Tuan Guru Nik Aziz;

Kugan A/L Anantha Revisited...

Go here and have a look at the autopsy report pertaining to the death of Kugan A/L Anantha, whose death has put our police in the limelight, again...

It says there (on page 4), and I quote:

Provisional Cause of Death: Acute Kidney Failure

Due to Rhabdomyolysis

Due to Blunt trauma to skeletal muscles

For those of you who are not familiar with the ever confusing medical lingo, you could go to page 5 of the report to see the meaning of rhabdomyolysis...It is explained there in layman's terms...

I did a stint in the forensic department a couple of months ago...While those few weeks of slicing and dicing dead people did not in any way make me an authority on this matter, I however did sense, at the moment when they announced the cause of his demise was due to the presence of 'fluid in his lungs', that something was not right...

Frankly speaking, my knowledge of forensic medicine is indeed scanty (I barely passed the exam!)...Therefore, it's not my intention to blabber about forensic medicine here...It'd be plain boring, not to mention the agony you have to endure reading stuff like hematoma, meninges, or cortico-medullary demarcation without having the slightest idea of what they actually mean!

Let's just talk about something else related to this sad story...

This newly released forensic report unfortunately raises far more questions than the answers we all hoped for:

1- Yes, the cause of his death is already known. But this begs the question as to what kind of blunt trauma did he suffer from? It could be anything you know, from an iron rod to a fist...Pick your choice...

2- The stark differences between the first and the second autopsy report are, in many ways, disturbing...Why did this happen? Was there a 'third party' involvement in the writing of the first report? Could it be due to the incompetency of the first doctor who did it? (I doubt that very much!) The bruises and cuts on his body were so painfully obvious, and yet for some unknown reasons the doctor chose not to see them, instead he went after 'the mysterious fluids' in his lungs...The blatant discrepencies between the two reports are just mind-boggling, to say the least...

3- What exactly happened in the lock-up where Kugan was detained? Did the police gang up on him in order to coerce a confession? Did he really die after drinking a glass of water?

Amidst the confusion, someone even went to the length of suggesting that he might have died from an asthma attack...Downright hilarious, if you ask me...

4- Needless to say, based on the findings of the second autopsy report, it was reported that Kugan suffered extensive injuries to various parts of his body, especially on his skin...Burn marks, cuts, bruises were found all over his body...Moreover, even some of his internal organs were found to be injured with some evidence of bleeding...I can't help but wonder, what kind of brute force used upon Kugan before he perished? Was he tortured? Normal people don't die with cuts and bruises all over the body, you know...

5- And finally, what happened to the concept of 'not guilty until proven otherwise'? It'd be good if I could simply bash someone else's head in if I accuse them of stealing my stuff...But I can't actually do that, can I?

My heart goes out to the late Kugan's family...It must be hard for them to accept that an act of cruelty was done to one of their family members...With Kugan now dead, we will never be able to know whether Kugan actually stole those luxury cars as purported, for he already brought the answer together with him to the next world...

I wonder how the eleven cops accused of beating Kugan to death feel about this second autopsy report...Perhaps years from now, in their most private moments, the ghost of Kugan will come to visit them from time to time...

Mat Mengantuk Al-Hadhari pula secara tiba-tiba menunjukkan kenapa dirinya dipanggil Mat Mengantuk...Dia meminta supaya Si Siva dilaporkan ke polis atas tuduhan yang tidak jelas...

Tidak pernah berlaku selama ini Polis ikut masuk campur dalam urusan dewan, tapi Mat Mengantuk kata 'tak apa'...

Rupa-rupanya lagi, dalam mengatakan sidang ini tidak sah, takut juga si Zambry dan kawan-kawan pada persidangan ini...

Sampai dikuncinya bangunan kerajaan tanpa sebab musabab yang jelas...

Dalam diam-diam, tindakan semborono mereka mengunci bangunan itu sebenarnya satu bentuk pengakuan yang Siva si Speaker bertindak betul dalam memanggil dewan bersidang...

Di tengah-tengah kekalutan, datang lah segerombolan manusia yang kelihatan seperti samseng jalanan dari rakyat biasa, berpekik dan berteriak 'derhaka' kepada ADUN-ADUN Perak...

Ada juga yang sampai membaling batu kemudian sembunyi tangan...Ada yang cuba menghalang ADUN-ADUN dari bersidang dengan menggunakan kekerasan...

Polis-polis cuma memperhatikan dari jauh saja, mungkin yang berpekik terlolong itu teman-teman mereka juga...

Maka bersidanglah ADUN-ADUN di Perak di bawah sebatang pokok dan langit biru, disaksikan ratusan rakyat yang mungkin juga pertama kali dalam hidup mereka melihat dewan bersidang di depan mata...

Antara yang disidangkan pada persidangan bawah pokok ini, supaya DUN dibubarkan dan kuasa memilih dikembalikan ke rakyat....

Di satu pihak betul-betul mahukan supaya kekalutan ini selesai dengan kembali ke rakyat yang berhak menentukan siapa pemimpin yang diinginkan...

Tapi di satu pihak lagi nampaknya bersungguh-sungguh supaya tidak diadakan pilihan raya negeri...Saya tertanya-tanya kenapa?

Mahkamah pun nampaknya turut ber 'kawtim' dan main mata dalam sandiwara ini...Perhimpunan bawah pokok dikatakan tidak sah, satu keputusan yang dibuat secara cepat dan tangkas oleh mahkamah yang biasanya lembab...

Sudah begitu, diminta lah pula peguam yang jelas-jelas sedang mewakili Zambry untuk mewakili Speaker Siva juga...Peguam 'swasta' tidak dibenarkan mewakili Speaker Siva...

Ini lebih aneh lagi, macam mana satu peguam yang terlibat dalam usaha menjatuhkan Nizar boleh pula dilantik untuk mewakili Speaker Siva?

Saya pun tertanya-tanya lagi, kenapa?

Maka betul lah apa yang dikatakan oleh sasterawan negara Pak Samad...

"Susah bercakap dengan orang yang bertelinga satu dan berlidah dua ini"....

Apa yang akan terjadi di kemudian hari? Sama-samalah kita tunggu perkembangan selanjutnya...

A little dose of history for you...

Montesquieu was one of the great political philosophers of the Enlightenment. Insatiably curious and mordantly funny, he constructed a naturalistic account of the various forms of government, and of the causes that made them what they were and that advanced or constrained their development.

He used this account to explain how governments might be preserved from corruption. He saw despotism, in particular, as a standing danger for any government not already despotic, and argued that it could best be prevented by a system in which different bodies exercised legislative, executive, and judicial power, and in which all those bodies were bound by the rule of law. This theory of the separation of powers had an enormous impact on liberal political theory, and on the framers of the constitutions of so many nations on Earth...

Ahh, Montesquieu...

Just by the mention of his name reminds me of Puan Jeya's Sejarah lesson...

The father of the 'holy triangle', the first person who coined the idea of 'separation of powers' between the judiciary, executive and legislative branch of a government...

Considering the era he lived in, this was indeed radical because it effectively eliminated the three Estates structure of the French Monarchy: the clergy, the aristocracy, and the people at large represented by the Estates General, thereby erasing the last trace of a feudalistic structure...

Similarly, Montesquieu argued that in order for a government to really serve its purpose as a government of the people, the three arms of a government should be separated from and independent upon each other, so that the influence of any one power would not be able to exceed that of the other two, either singly or in combination...

Hence the 'separation of powers'...

Well, at least that's the theory...A theory remains a theory until proven otherwise...It sounds so darn good on paper, but in reality, however, it is much more complicated than Montesquieu himself could ever imagine...

The tree, under which the emergency state assembly was held this morning, is a symbol of how Mostesquieu's notion of having separation of powers could anytime be raped at the whim of those who hold the real power in this country...

What we have now is a collusion between the three branches of the government trying to silence anything that goes against their will...

Just as we all thought it could not get any lower, today it did get lower...

They seem to be under the erroneous impression that the people of Malaysia are all 'mudah lupa', that such incidence will soon be easily forgotten...

If that's really the case, they couldn't be any more mistaken...

Ultimately, the people will triumph...Politicians come and go, but the people are here to stay...

This is one simple constant that should not be neglected...

Bumiputera Term Is Racist?

In extraordinary remarks today, Pas spiritual leader Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat said the use of the term “bumiputera” smacks of racism and deprived other races of government aid.

His comments, made in Kota Baru today, will certainly spark debate, especially since it comes from a Malay leader who is widely respected even by his foes in Barisan Nasional and Umno.

A slip of the tongue by the Tuan Guru? Think again...

This is hardly surprising really...If you listen closely to many of his previous ceramahs, you'll come to understand that Tuan Guru Nik Aziz has always been a proponent of equality among human beings...

It bodes well with the Islamic teaching that God does not differentiate people based on their colour and ethnicity...

Remember our beloved Prophet's final sermon?

"Verily in the sight of Allah, the most honoured amongst you is the one who is most taqwa. There is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab and for a non-Arab over an Arab, nor for the white over the black nor for the black over the white except in God-consciousness."

Or one of the verses in the Holy Qur'an that says:

"O’ people We created you from one male and one female and made you into tribes and nations, so as to be known to one another"

Tuan Guru Nik Aziz has been quoting these two sayings over and over again throughout his ceramahs, yet not many of us realized it, until now...

I think there are several reasons as to why he brought up this issue again, this time in a mass media...

One, as far as politics is concerned, by saying that bumiputera term is racist, any attempts to reignite the talk of a 'unity government' between UMNO and the oppositions will be immediately quashed...

After hearing Tuan Guru Nik Aziz's statement, UMNO with its obscured Ketuanan thing will definitely and automatically distance itself from him or PAS, or anything that promotes equality for that matter...This much is certain...

That way Tuan Guru Nik Aziz himself does not have to go through the painful confrontation with his own people in PAS, for he has already made himself abundantly clear regarding this matter...

He has been consistent in reminding the younger generations of this country that it was him (among several others) who supported the inclusion of PAS into Barisan Nasional in the aftermath of the May 13 1969 tragedy, in the name of the so called 'perpaduan melayu', only to be betrayed, humiliated, and kicked out from the coalition by BN for no good reasons...

He does not want PAS to repeat the same mistake again now, or ever...

Two, I guess Tuan Guru Nik Aziz too realizes that PAS' popularity (or acceptance) among the non muslims of this country has increased in leaps and bounds, beyond any of their wildest imaginations...

On the one hand, he might just want to shore up the non muslims' support for PAS...With him being an ustaz-cum-politician, that's totally understandable...

On the other hand, probably he wants to show to the non-muslims the true teaching of Islam, minus of all the politicking and vested interests...

After years of demonization by BN, the time has finally come for PAS to clear the air and come out clean, to correct the negative perceptions it once had among the non-muslims in Malaysia, thanks to BN's relentless efforts in putting PAS in a very bad light...

By stating the fact that Islam prohibits any forms of discrimination, or Islam promotes equality without any racial preferences, Tuan Guru Nik Aziz probably wants to ignite the curiosity among the non-muslims to learn more about Islam...

It's akin to the tragedy of 9/11 you know, after which there was an unexpected surge of interest on matters pertaining to Islam, as evidenced by the sudden increase in the number of people surfing the net looking for anything about Islam...Many converted to Islam too, as a result of this 'curiosity'...

On Tuan Guru Nik Aziz's part, it's a form of dakwah, I guess...

The final reason I could come up with at this moment, is that Tuan Guru wants to make the so called bumiputera too realize that this whole 'son of soil' thing is actually in contrary to the spirit of Islam that promotes equality amongst human beings...

I know this is going to be hard to fathom among the Malays, after so many years of getting pampered with privileges in the name of achieving economic parity among the races, the concept of equality simply does not exist in our vocabulary...

Some people would even want to go to the extent of running amok if these privileges are taken away from them...

A Chinese or an Indian calling for equality simply won't do the job...But if that call comes from a 'privileged' Malay, that's totally a different story...

From now on, you can expect some Nik Aziz bashings in the MSMs from UMNO people in days to come...

It's that 'season' of the year you know...Everyone in UMNO wants to be seen as a hero defending their party and race at all costs...

UMNO could even go further by claiming this is just another 'gimmick' from Tuan Guru Nik Aziz to garner more support for PAS...

UMNO people will argue that such statement coming from a highly respected figure like Nik Aziz, is damaging, and can only spell disaster to the 'survival' of the Malay race in Malaysia...

Survival of the Malay race...Hmm, eerie...

I thought someone by the name of Adolf Hitler said the very same thing too about his own race some 70 years ago...

FEB 28 — Does Umno represent all Malays? Is the Umno viewpoint synonymous with the Malay world view?

Datuk Hishammuddin Hussein and Datuk Reezal Marican of Umno Youth would like Malaysians to believe so. They want Malaysians to equate an insult against Umno Youth as an insult against all Malaysians.

But the answer to both questions is a resounding NO.

The umbilical cord between the ruling party and the community it was set up to serve has long been severed. It is difficult to pinpoint when the break happened.

Some political pundits say that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s sacking from government in 1998, his humiliation and jailing by the Mahathir administration was the defining episode that ended the special relationship between Umno and the Malays.

Others argue that the cord did not snap as a result of one pivotal event but was cut after decades of excesses and corruption by ruling party politicians.

In the 1999 elections, the new more tenuous relationship between Umno and the Malays became obvious. Malay voters in the 59 large Malay-majority seats in Peninsular Malaysia split their votes between the Umno/Barisan Nasional (49 per cent) and the Pas/Barisan Alternatif (51 per cent).

In 2004, thanks largely to euphoria over Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s promise of reforms and more religious image, the Malay vote swung back to Umno. Umno/BN snared nearly 59.1 per cent of the votes in 60 Malay-majority seats in Peninsular Malaysia, nearly 10 per cent up from 1999.

Political analysts say that on March 8, 2008, the Umno/BN share of the Malay vote was between 52 per cent and 55 per cent.

In a comprehensive survey conducted by Merdeka Centre just after the general election, 54.7 per cent of Malay respondents felt that Malays should be united under Umno while 35 per cent of Malay respondents felt that more room should be given to other Malay political parties such as Pas.

But this support for Umno among Malays could be slipping judging by results of the last two by-elections.

In the Permatang Pauh by-election, Anwar obtained 62 per cent of the Malay vote and in the Kuala Terengganu by-election, the Pas candidate won the seat on the strength of Malay support, especially those in the younger age group.

So looking at the voting pattern since 1999, one conclusion can be reached: Umno no longer can claim to speak for the Malays. It has to share that privilege with Pas and, to a lesser extent, Parti Keadilan Rakyat.

This fact is important because there is a move by Umno to pit whoever dares criticise the party against the Malay community. Reezal Marican, the prime minister’s political secretary and aspirant for the No. 2 position in Umno Youth, attempted to do so yesterday.

He said that DAP chairman Karpal Singh had hurt the Malays’ feeling by uttering the word "celaka" (damn) in reference to Umno Youth during his debate speech in Parliament.

"If we were to curse Karpal by saying 'celaka Singh', it would surely anger the Sikh community as it had hurt the Malays as Umno Youth is representing the Malays," he said.

Nice try but Umno Youth only represents their political party. Several of the men who gate crashed Parliament and confronted Karpal are contesting the party elections in March. Arguably, they were representing their own political aspirations on Thursday.

It’s the Umno election season and their actions and words are guided by one objective only: garnering enough support for the polls in March. That is why Hishammuddin spoke like a warrior yesterday when he said that he would stand by the Umno Youth members who confronted Karpal.

“If they are brought before the privileges committee, I will attend. Even if it is in court, I will be with them.

“We will defend our honour and our good name,” he said. Several hundred kilometres away in Kedah, his deputy Khairy Jamaluddin was bending the facts and painting the stormtroopers of the Youth wing as the aggrieved party in the Parliament fracas.

Yes, all of them would like Malaysians to believe that when they speak, they speak on behalf of the Malays. They don’t. The numbers do not support this claim. They are politicians auditioning for next month's elections.

Also present outside the Parliament building was Gombak Umno Youth chief Megat Zulkarnain Omardin who told reporters that they are Umno members who are willing to die defending the party.

“They must stop insulting the Rulers and the Malays,” said Megat Zulkarnain.

He added that Umno Youth's patience was running out.

The group also tried to stop DAP lawmakers from speaking to the press, challenging them to engage directly with the Umno Youth leaders present.

Ada negara, bangsa sama, agama sama, tapi hidup porak-peranda...

Agama, budaya, bahasa kita banyak yang berbeza, tapi masih boleh hidup bersama-sama...Ini saya setuju...

Lihat saja di sekeliling kita...Tak ada gaduh2, makan roti canai dan minum teh tarik kat kedai mamak pun boleh duduk semeja...

Semua orang di Malaysia nak hidup dengan aman tenteram, saya percaya...

Tak ada yang nak hidup dengan suasana yang tegang, gaduh sana sini...

Biar boleh cari makan, kata orang...

Tengok saja Ah Beng yang jual handphone kat dalam mall, Mat yang jual burger di tepi jalan, Muthu yang jadi salesman dari rumah ke rumah...

Semua boleh bekerja cari nafkah tanpa ada rasa takut dan gusar...

Ada yang bilang sesetengah orang tu bukan warga negara Malaysia, walaupun nenek moyang mereka dah lama makan,tidur, buang air etc2 di sini...

Ada yang berteriak, Hidup lah kaumnya, jangan dicabar ketuanan kaumnya...

Tapi orang-orang yang 'luar biasa' ini jugak yang kadang-kadang mengatakan Malaysia ini untuk semua, lihat lah kita saling berziarah waktu hari raya, gongxifachoi, makanan yang pelbagai...

Aneh tapi benar...

Kalau pemikiran mereka bermaksud perpaduan itu hanya dari segi kuih-muih yang dikongsi bersama, saya tak boleh nak kata apa lagi...

Apa maksud perpaduan yang sebenarnya?

Kalau tanya saya, saya pun tak boleh bagi jawapan yang pasti...

Kenapa selepas beratus tahun kita sama-sama berkongsi hidup di tempurung yang sempit bernama Malaysia ini, masih lagi dibicarakan hal-hal seperti kaum ini?

Tak boleh kah kalau kita memandang orang lain sebagai manusia saja, tanpa melihat warna kulit dan latar belakang mereka?

Kenapa masih perlu dibezakan antara yang coklat, cerah dan agak gelap lagi sampai sekarang?

Tak dilupakan juga mereka yang termasuk dalam kategori "dan lain-lain"...

Orang-orang yang 'luar biasa' ini, kadang-kadang suka juga memainkan pelbagai jenis sentimen yang boleh dimainkan...

Mereka smpai mengangkat2 senjata kuno yang diimport dari tanah seberang, kononnya untuk membela kaumnya...

Tapi saya percaya, kalaulah terjadi perkara-perkara yang tidak diingini hasil dari permainan sentimen mereka ini, orang yang pertama yang akan angkat kaki dari Malaysia adalah orang-orang yang 'luar biasa' ini...

Mereka mungkin sudah punya rumah besar di luar negeri, duit pun dah siap2 ditabung di sana...Jadi apa peduli mereka kalau tempurung kita ini terbakar hangus dimakan api-api permainan sentimen murahan...

Yang terseksa dan merana adalah orang-orang Malaysia yang 'biasa' seperti anda dan saya...

Mungkin susah untuk mencapai perpaduan yang ideal, itu saya mengerti...

Utopia itu cuma wujud di karangan2 Greek dahulu kala saja...

Mungkin juga kita boleh mulai dengan langkah yang kecil dulu...Tidak lagi melihat sesorang itu dari luar semata...

I guess the fact that he was caught red handed with child sex videos in his laptop could be partly due to his carelessness (watched it last night, forgot to delete maaa), and a wee bit of stupidity on his behalf (What kind of a pilot are you mate? Entering a country without knowing its do's and don'ts to me doesn't sound like a thing that a pilot would do, right?)

Nonetheless, since this dude shares the same name with me, I'm kinda perplexed and embarrassed each time 'our name' is mentioned in the news about his child pornography saga down there...

It's awkward enough reading the news with 'Ahmad Shauqi' as the villain, huh...

Fair dinkum, mate! An Aussie expression marking the beginning of me new world. A journey of self discovery in the far away land down under - the land of the kangaroos and wallabies.

The Aussie taught me the spirit of "fair dinkum" - a sincere expression of fair play where only the truth matters. No matter who we were or what our background was, we must remain true to ourselves and to the people around us. We must play fair and promote only the true and genuine things in life.

This has been a guiding principle in me life ever since. It has become more relevant now in an age where the sense of fair play and the love of truth are all but gone. ..

Me realized then, while still searching for me identity, we cannot choose where and how we were born. We cannot choose what God in His wisdom has given us. Denying the fact was a sure sign of not being grateful on what God has bestowed upon us. God in His own way is fair dinkum!

In those days when the clouds were still hanging over me head, and in me desperation, me used to conclude that me neither a Malay nor a Chinese but a Muslim-where Islam as a religion has managed to dismantle the barrier of race. But still it did not erase the fact that me still a "mutt". Denying the fact that being a "mutt" like me was fated and was the will of God could make matters worst. Knowing the fact and accepting it was the easier thing to do and most crucial part in helping "mutts" like me to move on with life. Even though for me this did not happen for quite a number of years yet until me big bro "broke" the news of me Ma's origin.

Me is grateful to me Ma and Pa for bringing me into this world. Without them, there can never be me - a "mutt". Rather than fretting about our origin, or gloating on the superiority of our own race, we could better use our energy and talents in promoting racial harmony in the true sense of the word for the betterment of our people and environment just as me Aussie friends would vouch by saying "fair dinkum, mate!"

To be honest, being a policeman is a noble job, no doubt about that...

My late grandpa was also a policeman...

Putting their lives on the line has become part and parcel of their daily job...

But going all heavy handed against a bunch of peaceful protesters, to me, is totally uncalled for...

Especially when the protests are done peacefully, without any bricks or Molotov Cocktails flying around...

I hope they really know where their priorities are right now, especially when our crime rates are already sky-high...

Couldn't be any truer...

One the one hand, I don't really blame UMNO for trying to cling to their power by any means possible...

After more than 50 consecutive years at the helm, the notion of letting go pretty much rings hollow to the majority of them...

It's just not in their DNA to lose out to anyone...Not now, not ever...

I think it's fair to say that power has intoxicated the entire entity known as UMNO...

They've been up there for so long that it has reached to the point where to draw a line between UMNO and the government is next to impossible...

Can you imagine an UMNO without the support of the various government institutions?

Will they survive financially without using the taxpayers' money to support their party?

Can they spread their propaganda without the help of the good people in the Information Ministry or any of the UMNO/BN owned mass media who survive their awfully low circulations only by the generosity of Malaysians supporting them indirectly through taxes?

I don't think so...

It will be GAME OVER for them once the tap is turned off...

On the other hand, I'm indeed frustrated with all the highly dubious means used by them to stay in power...

Bribing their way to reach the higher echelons of the party is apparently a norm to UMNO...

Everyone knows this, it's been a cakap-cakap amongst the people of Malaysia for a long time...

Even they themselves acknowledge that corruption (atau nama manjanya politik wang) is so deeply rooted in UMNO, it probably takes a major overhaul to remedy the situation...

No money/projects/blue chip shares, no vote...

It's endemic, to say the least...

What has become of them?

I hope there will be a time when UMNO is no longer ridiculed like this anymore...
So change lah...

Now, every time they are cornered, the usual clarion call of Ketuanan Melayu (now Daulat Tuanku) will be used again and again and again to reinforce their flailing strength...

I think many of us could still remember the scene in one of his reports where he got sprayed with chemicals by none other than our beloved FRU while covering the November 2007 Bersih Rally...

Back then, when Zam Maidin congratulated him for behaving like an 'actor', I thought, wow, this Hamish guy was really something...(and Zam's just a plain jackass)...

Simply being associated with such a reputable channel like Aljazeera English makes him a reporter with considerable stature among his peers...

I could not believe my eyes. We had arrived to interview Mullah Zaif, the Taliban's former ambassador to Pakistan who is now under virtual house-arrest on the outskirts of Kabul, when he walked into the room, sat down on the couch and pulled out an iPhone.

During Taliban rule, which ended when the US and its allies rolled in and took control of Kabul in 2001, the leadership had banned just about anything associated with modern technology.

There were no televisions, no computers, no radios, no music and though iPhones were not around back then, they most certainly would not have been allowed.

I asked Zaif about his gadget. His response was pretty much the same as everyone who owns an iPhone.

"I'm addicted," he said, "the internet is great on this, very fast."

He proceeded to show myself and our film crew his favourite websites. I half expected him to log on and show us 'Taliban Twitter'.

But there is a very serious side to all of this of course.

The Taliban and other groups opposed to US military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq have been incredibly quick to latch on to new technology and methods of communication.

It has enabled them to wage their war in a sophisticated fashion, using not just guns and bombs, but messages and propaganda too.

When reporting from Afghanistan I am always amazed at how quickly we get information from all sides of the conflict with vastly different accounts of what happened.

It is fair to say that no single version is the truth, and that is why we always try to report what every side is saying.

The current political impasse in Perak is slowly but surely turning into an episode of not so funny slapstick comedy...

Let's do some recap...

First, the Bota dude managed to pull a huge surprise (even his ol' university mate Brother Sheikh was caught with his pants way down) when he did the elegant and cunning double hops that could probably put an Olympic gold medalist to shame...

Why?

Somewhere in between, Mr J, O, and Ms H were reported to be MIA...

Their whereabouts were unknown even to their very own family...

As people started to wonder where in the blue hell they had been for those few days, Lo and behold, there they were, in Putrajaya, all smiling ear to ear (except for Ms H, who pretty much frowned throughout the media circus)...

For some God-knows-what reasons, they proudly declared themselves to be a bunch of BN-friendly independent monkeys ...

Why?

Najib was all smile that day...His smile if put into words would probably sound like this,"Hahaha, take that Anwar, you sonovagonova!!"...

Why lah is she frowning?

It was then when all hell broke loose...

Nizar immediately went to menghadap the Sultan asking for the assembly to be dissolved...

The good ol' Sultan told Nizar he would sleep on it, telling Nizar to menghadap him again tomorrow...

And menghadap he did, only to be told by the Sultan to step down and make way for the BN government...

In other words, the Sultan simply took the baton from Nizar and handed it over to BN, by-passing the rakyat in the process...

Why?

Najib too, went menghadap, together with him were a couple of humans and four frogs...

Najib slow-talked the Sultan, probably reminding him of something...

The four frogs, somehow managed to convince the sultan that they were indeed friendly to BN...

The Sultan practically rejected Nizar's request to return the ball to the rakyat's court...

Why?

Allow me to hit the fast forward button...

People got angry--huge turnout at MB's residence in support of their ousted MB--Najib pic got stepped upon--the crown prince's car got pelted with stones--some dudes even blocked the convoy with their mortal bodies--FRU fired tear gas into the mosque's compound (how dare they!!)--Zambry and his band of humans and frogs got sworn in--Najib cancelled his event for fear of having selipar and kasut flying a la George W Bush--Zambry shook hands with everybody and declared he's the MB to semua orang--Nizar returned to his office only to find his belongings ransacked--the state secretary rudely yelled 'KELUAR!!' to every single soul in the press conference (only to be met ferociously with angry reporters who yelled back at him, WHAT THE HELL, YOU SIAPA!!! AMBIK GAMBAR DIA!!)--BN owned media started to play the Derhaka issue--the oppositions shouted back, YOU DERHAKA DULU!!--Nizar symbolically returned to his office--Nizar wanted to sue the illegal government--KJ and Khir Toyo hit the street, in what seemed to be a cat fight for Ketua Pemuda post--Khir got arrested, albeit only for a while...

Apparently, Najib forgot to do his homework, regarding the DAP state assembly speaker...

"Aiya, still one left ka? I thot they're all annihilated oledi," mungkin kata Najib...

Now the speaker is starting to flex his muscle by banning the MB and the six EXCOs from joining the assembly (Is this the first time an MB got banned from entering the state assembly?)...

Najib mungkin pening kepala lagi...

One thing is certain, The End to this soap opera is nowhere in sight...

FEB 17 — Apakah berbogel di depan teman lelaki dan kemudian diambil fotonya boleh dianggap melanggar tatasusila atau pun sebarang undang-undang? Jika yang berbogel itu seorang Muslimat, undang-undangnya sangat jelas. Beliau bersalah.

Tetapi jika beliau bukan Islam, kita tidak berapa jelas. Mungkin ada di kalangan pembaca yang menganuti agama Buddha atau pun Kristian yang lebih arif di dalam isu keagamaan ini dan berkongsi pandangan dengan kita.

Secara teorinya, foto-foto yang di ambil adalah untuk simpanan peribadi dan bukan untuk jualan di majaalah nudity dan internet porno. Kalau dijualkan pun penulis pasti tidak akan laku.

Tapi Elizabeth Wong merupakan seorang pemimpin di negeri Selangor, makanya harga foto tersebut tentunya bertambah jika dijual.

Penulis tidak pasti nama penyakit psikologi yang menerangkan perangai orang yang suka mengambil foto-foto nudity padahal beliau sudah puas melihat dengan dua mata sendiri dan mereka yang merelakan tubuh badan mereka difotokan.

Jika kita lihat foto Elizabeth Wong, tidak ada yang menarik untuk difotokan. Mungkin kerana kulit beliau yang cerah tapi selain daripada itu, kita boleh gambarkan di dalam otak ini yang tidak ada yang special untuk ditatap. (Is he a closet pervert? my goodness!)

Masalahnya sekarang ialah Elizabeth Wong merupakan seorang Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri di negeri Selangor. Beliau dipilih secara undi majoriti di dalam PRU yang lepas. Ketika itu, tiada siapa pun tahu yang tubuh beliau pernah difotokan.

Jika tahu, pasti parti PKR tidak akan mencalonkan beliau. Jika dicalonkan juga, ianya adalah tindakan kamikaze, tindakan yang bakal membunuh parti PKR sendiri.

Persoalannya sekarang ialah apakah Elizabeth Wong perlu mengundurkan diri? Tentunya beliau dan penyokong-penyokong beliau seperti MB Selangor akan tetap mengatakan bahawa bukan salah Elizabeth Wong tapi boyfriend beliau.

Anwar Ibrahim pula tentu cuba mencelah dengan memberikan alasan-alasan beliau. Beliau tentu menggeleng-geleng kepala tidak percaya kerana dalam usaha beliau untuk memujuk rayu ahli Parlimen BN, ada pemimpin PKR pun turut terbabas dek pujuk rayu boyfriend beliau!

Maklumat terakhir yang penulis tahu ialah pihak polis sudah mengenal pasti dalang di sebalik sebaran foto-foto nudity Elizabeth Wong. Elizabeth pula mengatakan bahawa beliau tidak bersalah dan adalah mangsa kepada isu ini.

Yang pastinya, ramai yang ternanti dan mencari-cari foto tersebut. Bagi penulis, ianya tidak perlu. Yang perlu ialah untuk Elizabeth Wong meletakkan jawatan dengan segera.

Di Indonesia, filem 'Laskar Pelangi' telah mencatat kutipan tertinggi untuk filem-filem tahun 2008...

Kutipan tertinggi ni sebenarnye bersebab (even mengalahkan Ayat-Ayat Cinta yang dulu nampak mcm ter sangat-sangat famous di Indonesia ni) Laskar Pelangi mempertontonkan sesuatu yang berbeza, 'real' dan berpijak di bumi yang nyata...

Dah selalu sangat kita disajikan dengan filem-filem cinta dan hantu yang agak membosankan...

Tak kiralah filem hantu dan cinta malaysia ke, indonesia ke, sama saja...

Kalau filem hantu yang ada kisah cintanya, lagi lah "menyeramkan"...

Berbalik ke Laskar Pelangi, ceritanya tentang satu kumpulan budak-budak dari kampung yang miskin di Belitung, Indonesia...

Pendek cerita, walaupun miskin dan serba kekurangan, budak-budak ni tetap bersemangat untuk mencari ilmu sebanyak yang mungkin...

For someone who was born in the post-Elvis era, being an avid fan of Elvis might strike some of you as strange, even ketinggalan zaman...

And no, I'm not one of those who literally worship Elvis and make the annual pilgrimage to his home in Memphis...

I'm just a regular Joe who happens to appreciate the quality his music has brought us...

32 years have passed since he died (some say in the toilet at his home *sigh*) yet he's still The King to many...Especially to those who lived throughout his glittering career that spanned almost 2 decades...

Would he still be a legend hadn't he died then? I think so...

Many of Elvis' time-tested songs put 'the music of my zaman' to shame, to say the least...

I think the music of my zaman simply lacks the quality and value to enter the Valhalla of evergreen music...

With a couple of exceptions of course...

I actually kinda believe his songs will go beyond the evergreen category, who knows maybe 50 years down the road people would still listen to Elvis' songs whenever they feel like one...

The UMNO of Yesteryear...

I was born in raised in a family devoted to UMNO, between late 60s to mid 80s. My father was a kampung UMNO leader in KT back then, and so did a few of my uncles. I recalled how excited my brothers and I together with friends were every time there was election, carrying UMNO and BN flags. One thing I remember though, to my father, people always come first and family second. That’s why we never be rich. Whatever little that he might have ‘amassed’ went directly to the people. We had a poor chinese neighbor and my father never shy to stop by their house, asked how they were and lent whatever help that he can afford. We were not poor but we never rich. Often times, we ended up eating the left overs from last night for breakfast because my father told us that anything that we wasted means that he would have had that much less resources to help others. My father never vied for any party posts and in fact always turned down any nominations for power. His argument was then that he could not take any more responsibility than what he already had. On the day he died in 1987, we collected more than $5000 in donation and that’s a lot of money for kampung folks at that time. Thousands turned up for his funeral and even the subsequent evening tahlil, most people who turned up did not eat anything because we did not have enough food to go around. Even then, the same crowd turned up for all the 3 nights tahlil that we did.

Where are all these UMNO leaders now? Are they all dead?

I thank Allah that I did not end up following my father’s footstep - and that is to join UMNO. Otherwise, I would probably be one of those people who are ‘lupa diri’.

YM, I pray that you can do something much much more ‘radical’ than what you have been doing now in whatever time that you have left in your life. I don’t see anyone else within UMNO, whom can take this fight to that ‘tipping point’.

And YM, please do not shy away from that responsibility.

Baru-baru ini akhbar Suara KeAdilan dan Harakah kena rampas di banyak negeri...

Katanya sampai 20000 salinan Suara KeAdilan kena rampas...Harakah mungkin sebanyak ini juga...

Banyak tu...Saya tak ingat berapa harga satu Suara KeAdilan ni, tapi kalau lah harga dia RM 1.50 satu, dikalikan dgn 20000, sebanyak RM 30000 dah lesap begitu saja...

20000 tu hanya anggaran, mungkin lebih banyak, mungkin lebih sedikit (buat gempak saja kata 20000)...

Saya kesian kan vendor/penjual surat khabar kecil-kecilan yang menjual akhbar-akhbar yang dirampas, tak taulah berapa kerugian mereka...mungkin boleh claim balik, mungkin tidak...

Apa pun, tindakan rampas-merampas akhbar ni cerita lama yang berulang lagi, atas dasar apa dirampas tak tahulah pulak...

Katanya banyak hasutan dan fitnah terhadap 'pemimpin'...Untuk ahli sahaja...

Saya yakin, blog-blog politik di Malaysia tidak akan terlalu famous seperti sekarang ni kalau media di Malaysia tidak memihak ke satu pihak saja...

Saya yakin, akhbar-akhbar seperti U.M, B.H, T.S, NST tidak akan mampu bertahan dengan circulation mereka yang semakin hari semakin rendah kalau tak ada bantuan dari sugar daddy mereka...

Measures under Nizar must continue

THE shocking display of vitriol against Datuk Seri Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin of Perak by certain groups claiming to advance patriotism in Perak is a disconcerting trend.

In a modern and robust democracy such as we claim to be, threats against those who hold different views, seek to enforce their legal rights, or seek to challenge authority in a court of law are seriously misplaced. We cannot, on the one hand, claim to be a modern democracy that respects dissenting views, and on the other, ask for archaic modes of "punishment" (like chasing someone out of the state) for holding those views.

It is also necessary to remember that under Nizar's administration in Perak, many significant steps forward were taken on issues that affect the Orang Asli and other underprivileged and marginalised groups.

I write this piece to put on record what I believe to be the most significant events from a human rights perspective: events that members of the Malaysian Bar and other non-governmental organisations (NGOs) were pleased to be part of. Issues that had remained outstanding for many years saw quick resolution in the last 10 months in Perak under Nizar's administration.

They include the following:

As menteri besar, Nizar cancelled all logging and plantation activities in Orang Asli settlements around Gopeng that affected more than 2,000 Orang Asli.

State exco and assemblyperson A Sivanesan announced the return of approximately 400 acres of Orang Asli ancestral land to the Orang Asli that had been earmarked for logging activities by the previous government in Mukim Teja near Gopeng.

The state government announced the return of approximately 500 acres of Orang Asli ancestral land to the Orang Asli of Kampung Chang, Sungai Gepai in Bidor, which had been earmarked for a Botanical Garden by the previous government.

A special task force on Orang Asli land rights was set up to formally recognise all Orang Asli customary land in Perak. The task force committee comprised two tiers. The second tier was exclusively managed by the Orang Asli communities themselves, and meeting halls in the state secretariat building were provided to the Orang Asli for their use.

The administration commissioned a special Orang Asli officer for the state of Perak whose function was to resolve all problems of the Orang Asli within the state.

A series of consultations with the public and NGOs on development activities in Ipoh was held. For example, public opinion was sought in relation to the proposed development of Yau Tet Shin Market.

Both Malay and Chinese [Malaysian] residents of new villages and Kampung Tersusun are now being granted permanent land titles in stages.

The Malaysian Bar must put these events on record as we have worked for years on some of these issues and were happy to see positive results achieved in a short span of time.

We hope that the same importance will be given to these matters and that they will continue to progress without delay. In fact, we call on all state governments to be proactive in relation to issues that concern the Orang Asli, the marginalised and the underprivileged.

The newly royal/self appointed MB of Perak, Dr. Zambry is reported in TheMalaysianInsider to have a difficult time dealing with the reporters at a press conference...

It was said that he allegedly snapped when a number of reporters posed him with some 'soalan cepu emas'...

Reading the report, I couldn't help but be appalled and amused by his response to the questions asked...

Let's see what we can gather from the following:

When asked today if he thought he has the support of a majority of the public in Perak, Zambry said: "That is why we are here."

Hmm, this is actually funny, because I don't think he would be anywhere near the MB seat had the rakyat gotten their say in this...

My proof? Well, somebody didn't want a state election to take place...That somebody must have counted their ridiculously huge odds had an election really taken place...

That somebody also must be really terrified to face the real 'majority' out there...

Perhaps he only reads Utusan Meloya in his lifetime as a politician...(where an excellent camera angle and a touch of Photoshop can make a 1000-strong crowd look more like 5000 strong, as duly reported...Front page some more!)...

I guess that's where his majority came from...

When it was pointed out that he did not gain his position as menteri besar via an election, he grew visibly defensive and snapped back: "What do you mean? This is a democratic process.

"Do you understand democracy? I am asking you, do you understand the political philosophy of democracy?

There you go, the 's' word...

The MB chair he's sitting on is not even 'panas', yet he already got confrontational with the reporters...

Can't really blame him though...

Defending falsehood and deceit is something not everyone can do...

As the saying goes, "Menegakkan benang yang basah"...

Even a good spin doctor has think twice (or more) before twisting anything that can be twisted, for fear of having it backfired...

It'd be much easier for Mr. Z if he just came out clean, and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, this IS a coup d'etat...Enough said"... Absolutely no need for the extra twist and turn...

But everyone knows, truth does hurt, and nobody (including Mr. Z and his ilks) wants to be hurt in this time of uncertainties...

As for democracy (and the 'political philosophy behind it', hahaha LOLTROTFWBLKTA) , I personally prefer 'DemoCrazy' to replace the one used by Mr. Z...

"I am asking you back. Why are you not asking them (Pakatan Rakyat) back when they are talking about the party hopping?

"When they triggered everything right from the very beginning. You should ask yourself about that."

Ahaa, now I know why the Bota dude katak-jumped and then made a sharp u-jump afterwards...

Then, before another reporter could finish her question on Jelapang state representative Hee Yit Fong, he cut in and told her: "You like to delve into all kinds of speculative things."

That's just plain rude, Mr. Z...

No point in getting all riled up with the reporters man, you yourself know your BN-friendly editor/spin doctor i.e., their boss, will always picture you in a good light in their report...

When it was announced that the next MB for Perak (royal/BN-appointed MB) was going to be someone by the name of Zambry bin Hj Abd. Kadir, it immediately rang a bell...

I've heard this name before, I'm pretty sure I even had met him somewhere, but where aa?

But when they said he's from Pangkor, ooooo, everything became clear to me...

I indeed had met him, once...

Well, I did not exactly meet him personally, I was merely attending an event that was officiated by none other than Zambry himself...

How could I even forget about him? I can't really miss the 'b' in Zambry, can I?

What can I tell you about him?

To be honest, nothing...Nada, zilch..

It was too brief, you know...

When he gave a speech, I wasn't really paying attention to his speech...When he gave away presents and cenderamata to the kids and the event organizer, I was outside the hall taking pictures of the local folks...

Tup, tup, The End...That's about it...Then he left...

The name Zambry practically vanished from my poor old memory, up until when the recent political hu-ha unfolded...

Don't want to say anything about him, aku tak kenal pun die ni...

But please, don't simply label him as mamak or anything near to that...

It is reported today that the Election Commission declared there would be no by-elections for the Behrang and Changkat Jering state seats in Perak as the two assemblymen had written to them to declare their resignations are not valid...

I, for one, too ask the same questions as Anil who said in his blog, and I quote, "Where does this leave Perak? Will we see a battle in the courts?" Unquote...

The global economy is in disarray, with major economic players are scraping the bottom of the barrel to see if somehow there's money left to sustain their economies, and yet, our politicians are at loggerheads pointing knife at each other's throat...

What will happen to a small and fragile economy like us if it continues to be in this sorry state for time to come?

Who's leading our country now? Where does this political stalemate lead us?

For those who are in power now, please, for the sake of all people in Malaysia, leave the oppositions alone! No good will come out with you keep bugging them, threatening to topple the opposition-held state governments...

Instead, it shows us the rakyat that you are nothing but a bunch of power craze people who've been intoxicated with this incurable disease called 'gila kuasa'...

Yesterday I stumbled upon this blog while I was updating mine...

It belongs to a friend of my friend's wife, who were house mates when they were doing their masters in Washington D.C, some years ago...

Needless to say, it's one of those rare first hand accounts that comes straight from inside the conflict zone...

I do wonder, however, how did she manage to put up a blog and update the rest of us in the world, with all the terrifying missiles flying over her head, with the electricity cut off, not to mention the constant harassment they get from the Israeli dogs?

Aussie Open 2009 has just ended, and Rafa emerged as the newly crowned Champion, defeating my man, Roger 'Fedex' Federer...

It was a classic five-set match, hailed as a battle worthy of a major final...

Again and again, Federer has proved that he's no match against Rafa's raw, bull-liked power...

Unfortunately, this time around, I didn't get the chance to watch the final live on tv...thanks to Astro who pulled the hell out of Indonesia not so long ago...

I however, managed to follow the development of the game via online radio, who gave me bit by bit the development of the game in great detail, minus the visual of course...

Kinda remind me the time when people were glued to their mini radio, listening attentively to the presenter's take on football match, or badminton, or whatever games that you could think of...

I, for one, had to let my imagination run wild just to visualise the bits being said by the radio presenter...

Try this with a little of Aussie accent, and you'll understand...

"Federer serve, love fifteen, off the top of the net and gone wide....oooooh (crowd cheering) It's all going wrong for Roger Federer noow..."

"3-1, he leads, final set, thirty love, serving down the middle but too long..."

My Atuk and Nenek on their 50th anniversary...Love you, and May Allah bless you both, forever and ever and ever!

There was a time when UMNO, the once most powerful political force in Malaysia, ruled this land with an unwavering support from the rank and file of its party...

It was UMNO who liberated this land (and so it was told) from the colonial grip of the British Empire...It was UMNO who brought development to every nook and cranny of this country since the day the Tunku cried "Merdeka" out loud 7 times on the 31st of August 1957...and the list goes on and on...

Well, at least that's what I learned during the Sejarah lessons back in my school heyday...

And truth be told, there's a generation who has seen all the goings-on in this country right from its conception to this period of turbulence and uncertainties...

My Atuk & Nenek are just ones of the many who are lucky enough to be included in this golden generation...

They've been supporting UMNO long before many of us who read this entry were even born...

Come each General Election, they and the rest of my kampung folks would come together and throw their full support in any way possible, just to ensure the already guaranteed victory of UMNO in their DUN and Parliamentary Zone...

I'm talking about Melaka, and in Melaka, especially in the Malay heartlands, the oppositions' participation in the elections is just a formality, knowing too well UMNO has always gotten the support of the majority of the people here...

Yes, they've been supporting UMNO for a long time, but for completely different reasons than what most of us have UMNO associated with nowadays...

They don't support UMNO for worldly wealth...nor for gaining some measly contracts here and there...

These UMNOputras must be waaay off their rocker...not wanting to be investigated is akin to declaring corruption as a way of life...look no further, kindly check out those nyam2 bellies...how sad...

Their support is mainly based on trust, the trust that UMNO could set and provide a much better future for their children, and grandchildren, me included...

They trust UMNO to continuously bring harmony, peace and stability to this country...

In short, they trust UMNO this beloved country of ours with all their heart...

My brother told me, during last year's GE, Atuk bought a brand new tv just to watch the election results on the night of the polling day...

I was out of the country at that time, so I didn't know about this...(the old tv kept breaking down anyway, it's just appropriate to have it replaced with a new one...)

As the results were announced one by one, it must have pained him so much to see the oppositions gained so much grounds, conquering the once thought impenetrable UMNO strongholds, one after another...

Fortunately Atuk & Nenek aren't really exposed to the open sky of information we all now call the Internet...this pic (among thousands of others) could have hurt them real bad...

Also during last year's Hari Raya, matters related to politics naturally became the hottest topic debated, in what once used to be a light raya chit chat affair...

Some of them even came with gun blazing, whopping the sorry asses of the UMNO people all the way through their conversation, telling my grandparents all sorts of stories you won't find in Utusan Melayu (which Atuk reads daily), or any mainstream media for that matter...

Back then I thought, wth? Keep politics away lah, this is Hari Raya for God's sakes...

Being a patient man he always is, Atuk just smiled and nodded, while listening this fella rambling and condemning every single wrongdoing of the government...

It must have pained him very much, again, listening to those stories...

I love my Atuk and Nenek very much, they have sacrificed and contributed a lot in our upbringing (I got 6 adik beradik, all schooled at kampung, under the watch of our grandparents), and I'm grateful for that...

Deep down, I know Atuk & Nenek too have realized that UMNO has changed, a lot...It isn't what it used to be anymore...

But rest assured, their support will always be with UMNO, rain or shine, for they are people with principles, a quality that I find so lacking in today's generation...

I hope, as remote as it may seem, UMNO will wake up from its deep slumber and rectify every single mistake they have done...

And please, stop disappointing people like my Atuk and Nenek, whom I love very much...

Where Did They Come From?

Yesterday's The Star carried a news about the discovery of "early axes" in Perak...

I quote,

"GEORGE TOWN: Evidence of human existence dating back 1.83 million years was uncovered at Bukit Bunuh in Lenggong, Perak recently.

Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Centre for Archaeological Research Malaysia director Associate Prof Dr Mokhtar Saidin said hand-axes which were unearthed showed evidence of the early existence of Homo erectus in the South-East Asia region.

He said the previous prehistoric hand-axes found in Africa dated back 1.6 million years.

“We found one of the hand-axes, made of quartzite rock, embedded in layers of suevite caused by meteorite impact.

“We sent part of the suevite to the Japan Geochronology Lab in Tokyo for fission track dating and the results showed that it dated about 1.83 million years,” he told a press conference.

He said his team did not find any human remains." Unquote.

Now, the finding of these axes is clearly in contradictory with the outcomes of the human genographic project, which state, among others, that the very first pair of human beings originated from the continent of Africa, some 60,000 years ago...

Based on the genetic markers in our DNA, the study tells us that the couple started to leave that place to populate the entire world which is roughly 2000 generations (wow!)...

So, now we got the "Perak axes"...1.83 million year old axes...

Wonder which one is correct...

But one thing is certain, I hope those axes actually fell down from the outer space...will cause a lot of hu-ha in the world if this is really the case =)

My Letter to The NST...

Not so long ago, back in 2004, I wrote a letter to the NST....

Give Pak Lah a Chance

Needless to say, criticism is very much needed to keep the government in check, especially when it comes from someone who - for a very long time - had paved the way our nation is heading now.

But on the other hand, criticism alone won’t do us any good. It always needs to be delivered in a constructive manner. Negative remarks lashed out by Tun Dr Mahathir about the current administration a few days back truly came as a shock to us all.

Strong words were used, reflecting his utter disappointment with his successor’s performance in many areas. Tun even went to the extent of saying the appointment of Pak Lah as the next prime minister replacing his 22-year-old reign was a mistake. Without a doubt, the frustration within Tun has been accumulating for quite some time.

The former premier has every reason to express his opinions. After all, he is only exercising one of his rights as a good citizen of Malaysia - the right to speak freely without any kind of intimidation whatsoever.

But everyone knows what kind of a leader Pak Lah is. Unquestionably he has his own style on how to shape up the future of this country. His leadership clearly emphasizes more on the many matters neglected during Tun’s years in the office.

Things like bridging the increasingly wide gap between rural and urban areas, maintaining the integrity of our fragile society, trying to strike a balance between ‘first-class infrastructures’ and ‘third-class mentality’ bore all the hallmarks of Pak Lah’s administration, among many others.

Malaysia is one of the many developing nations eager to get the ‘developed nation’ title as soon as possible, in our case, by 2020. Sure enough, Tun had left us with sufficient ‘hardware’ to fulfill our Wawasan 2020 in the form of cutting edge infrastructures and also a strong economic foundation.

But it is obviously up to his successors to ensure those ‘hardware’ are programmed by using good ‘software’. And that is exactly what Pak Lah is doing right now, providing a good set of software for the country. We don’t want for sure our glittering ‘hardware’ to end up as a bunch of boondoggles.

Many routes can be taken to achieve our dream of becoming a fully developed nation by 2020. Pak Lah has unmistakably chosen his own path while at same time upholding the vision created by his predecessor dutifully.

As the Malay saying goes, ‘harimau mati meninggalkan belang, manusia mati meninggalkan nama’, Tun had had his own time. His legacy will always remain in our hearts, the mere citizens of Malaysia. But for now, let Pak Lah shoulder the responsibilities burdened to him peacefully.

Freedom of Speech...

Like it or not, I have always been a proponent of freedom of speech...

To me, the ability to engage yourself in a healthy debate over an array of issues is one of the most important qualities that distinguishes us humans from other creatures...it's simply priceless, to say the least...

Animals don't do debate, they simply let their otot do the talking...it's much2 simpler for them to lead their lives this way...

Imagine a tiger politely asking a babi hutan whether it's permissible to have it as dinner...of course the babi hutan will naturally respond by telling the tiger to piss off, and never show up again, ever...

Freedom of speech, tempered with moderation, has always managed to bring out the best of us amidst all of the chaos we are facing today...

I have to admit, arguing with someone who doesn't share the same view with you could be frustrating, especially when emotions run high...

Instead of bringing the best out of us, it is the 'beast' that usually emerges...

But really, i frequently ask myself, what's the true meaning of freedom of speech? By the word 'freedom', does it mean we are free to say what ever the hell that comes up in our mind, lashing out at so many people while we are at it?

Some take the word 'freedom' literally, but they are some who might disagree...

As for me, freedom of speech should be practiced with some sort of restraints...

People have the unfortunate knack of always saying the wrong thing to the wrong people at the worst possible time...

There's no such a thing as absolute freedom of speech people...

Practicing a restrained version of freedom of speech might ring hollow to you, but it very much rings true to me...

Kalau orang melayu kata, cakap pakai otak, jangan cakap sesedap rasa saja...terlajak perahu boleh diundur, terlajak kata?

When people get annoyed over the things you say, things could get messy...as evidenced from what we've seen previously in Malaysia...

After all, once the defence mechanism that keeps us sane crumbles due to the sheer force of stupidity, all that's left is despair, and regrets...

Then again, a restrained version of freedom of speech is also open to abuse, especially by those who are in power..but let's just talk about that di hari yang lain, ok people?

An aye for freedom of speech with some otak in it, anyone?

Hikayat Negeri Mim Bahagian I

Arakian tersebutlah kisah di suatu titik di cerok dunia ini nan dahulu namanya "Ta Mim", sekarang cuma "Mim" sahaja, di mana pembesar-pembesar dan hulubalang-hulubalang yang memerintah setelah sekian lama seakan-akan tidak karuan, tidak mengerti akan permasalahan yang sedang dialami...

Tatkala angin dari jauh dan dekat membawa khabar akan orang-orang yang dahulunya sehati sehaluan sejiwa sebantal akan mendurhaka dalam gerombolan yang agak besar....

Tatkala ada khabar-khabar yang tidak enak didengar, mendendangkan seruan dari kepala pemberontak, yang ternyata lebih dahulu menderhaka, untuk segera meninggalkan istana yang sedang dihinggapi, gagal berarti akan hancur punah semuanya dibakar hidup-hidup tanpa belas kasihan...

Diceritakan di tengah-tengah keributan yang melanda, pembesar-pembesar, mamanda-mamanda, hulubalang-hulubalang berkumpul dan duduk bersila bersama-sama dengan satu matlamat, untuk menidakkah percobaan kepala pemberontak yang kekuatannya semakin hari semakin menguat....

Keributan yang melanda di luar, rupa-rupanya turut dirasakan di dalam istana, apabila tidak didapatkan suara yang benar-benar bisa mematahkan serangan-serangan kepala pemberontak...suara yang didengarkan juga dikatakan suara-suara lapuk, yang tidak lagi enak didengar di tengah-tengah keributan ini...

Berkatalah mamanda pembesar, "Sebar-sebarkanlah perutusan kita di sepelosok negeri ini, canangkanlah si penderhaka-penderhaka memang gilakan kuasa, tamakkan harta"...

Mamanda pembesar kepada pembesar cuma mengangguk-angguk...setuju tidak, menyangkal juga tidak...

Berbicaralah seorang lagi mamanda pembesar, "Gunakanlah semua hulubalang-hulubalang yang handal dan lincah di negeri ini untuk menentang si kepala pemberontak dengan kekuatan dan kekerasan"...

Mamanda pembesar kepada pembesar sekali lagi cuma mengangguk-angguk sahaja...setuju tidak, menyangkal juga tidak...

Bangunlah seorang lagi mamanda pembesar seraya berkata dengan penuh kobaran api di dada, "Kita semua mesti merobah diri kita supaya sekali lagi bisa diterima rakyat jelata sekaliaannya!"

Dikisahkan sunyi sepi istana mendengarkan mamanda pembesar yang seorang ini...

cuma bunyi cengkerek sahaja yang kedengaran....

Till Death Do Us Apart...

Last night i received an sms telling me that one of my friends' father had passed away...i was also informed that this came as a shock to him, as only last week he was told that his father was getting better...

Also last night, another friend of mine tied the knot with the man she loves...

Unfortunately for her, her wedding will forever be associated with this unexpected death...

I bet she'll definitely remember this the next time they celebrate their anniversaries in the years to come...

Kinda remind me of an episode in Scrubs, when doctor Cox's son is born not long after one of the staff nurses, Levine passes away (she succumbs to a road accident, i think...)...upon learning about Levine's death, dr Cox tries his best to hide the news about the birth of his son, but of course, to no avail (thanks to JD and his big mouth)...

Nobody wants their happiness to be associated with someone else's grief and anguish, but still, it happens...

As the saying goes, "What God has joined together, let no man put asunder"...

I think this applies to both of them...

And it's the Will of God that allows the aforementioned events to take place...

It's already 15 minutes past 2 in the morning here in Bandung...ngantuk sgt lah...been trying to come up with something to write about, with soooooo many issues (and people) hogging the lime light now back at home in Malaysia, but being a mortal i am, i can't really resist the temptation of the tilam and bantal ...tak pa la, esok masih ada...

our beloved country is at a crossroads, and it'd be fun to know everyone's take on it...and rest assured, i'll definitely throw a lot my worthless two cents as well....
